Default OWNED a vette

Today on my way to school late I caught front row at a red light with a shiny white later model C3 vette. I looked at the driver and we nodded in a "nice car" sort of way, then while returning my eyes to the road i threw him 2 quick revs. When he didnt rev back i figured he didn't want to hurt his baby, but when the light went green, he jumped! i slipped the clutch so i wouldn't spin and once i was sure i would have traction, I put in on the floor! by the top of first we were even, I shifted 2nd right in his face , the tires broke, and I was outta there! it was a bloodbath! I think it might have been an early 80's/late 70's model since he got killed so bad, not sure though. anyways, that was my first battle with a vette and I am quite proud! (not looking for any trouble from LS1/6/2 vettes yet tho... )

My mom has a '79 vette. Did it still have the protruding front fender bumps? Those are from those years. I'm in the process of restoring it, with help from my bro. I did the same to a late 80's early 90's vette a while back. No chance.

Nice kill.

Nope, no, I don't think that is what he was saying Gray. Although it may be to you, 5 inches is not very big to the rest of us ....

Nice kill.
Hey dude, check out the April issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines. Nice article on restoring a '78-'79 vette.
Article also said the upgraded engine (L82 350) put out 225 ponies stock, so obviously no match for an LT-1.

You've had that feeling huh? Picking on late 70 to late 80 models where the horsepower varied from 180 - 245 hp is nothing impressive. Try your luck with a 97 up Corvette.

Actually, I have had the pleasure of beating a 2000 C5 only. However, I am looking forward to my buddy kicking my *** in his 74' vette with many mods on his 454 and 400 turbo. But, I am not against racing anything, win or lose. Even an old 69' vette.... LOL

Well according to your sig, your only performance mods are a lid and a filter. And you beat a 2000 C5 with just those two things? You have a weight disadvantage since a coupe or conv weigh around 3200 lbs. And you have an auto with a stock convertor, so you aren't beating a 6 speed anything, much less a 6 speed Vette. The auto has a 2:73 gear unless you get the perf axle ratio (3:15) and a 6 speed comes with a 3:42 gear. Auto to auto, it would be a closer race, with the Vette having the advantage due to weight, suspension and drag coeffecient. Not saying it isn't possible, but it is rare that you will beat a newer Corvette with a lid and filter! Either way, a kill is a kill, congrats.
And don't make me drive my 69 over there...LOL!
If you like loosing, I'll bring the Z06 too.

Dean

Either way, a kill is a kill and congrats.

Thanks, I think he had an auto but either way I think it was my skill over his lack of.

As for racing you.... I know your Z06 would kick my *** and hell maybe the 69' as well.

Actually, I have always favored the Firebird but the Vette Sting Rays have the baddest design and since I saw "corvette summer" as kid I have always wanted to own one. Nice rides

Thanks. I realize now that you have a 2001 and you raced a 2000. The differences are that a 2001 has a LS6 intake and MAF from the factory and the EGR is gone due to the intake. That is a definite advantage, but if you race a 2001 up, you will not have the same race. Just some advice.
