My best in my Trans am was a 8.3 @86mph and 12.8@110 mph with a 1.9 60ft but it was m6 with factory rear with 4.10s, lid, ported TB and slp lm exhaust.

There are too many factors to give a definitive answer, but it is what it is, and it isn't very strong overall, though there are those few people who "got lucky" with them over the years. Slicks won't help make it last, I can tell you that.

Well ****.... ill cross my fingers then and hope for the best. In the mean time ill be on the look out for a strong rear end from the local junk yards. Don't feel like paying a lot of money for a new one when a good strong used one is cheap.

Weld your tubes and run a girdle. It will be fine. I have hit 1.5s-1.6s with mine over three years. Middle console is full of slips. Literally

He could also build an 8.8" Ford for it, or go big and get a Dana, etc. Just other ideas. I think for now, yours is the better path. That will surely hold up for awhile.

Here you go Mac.
Built 40L60E in a heavy *** car. If you are breaking one whoever is building it doesn't know what they are doing. They can last with right know how and soak up less power than a 80

It's hard to come by a strong upgrade in the yard though

No point in spending for the 9 when the 8.8 is so available and capable. That's just me.

I'd prefer the 4L60 over a M6 considering the abuse, but it would really need to be upgraded and from what I've heard, it's not easy to get it right. I'd rather a 200-4r myself, but those aren't cheap and many people are still afraid of them even though they've been used to power some heavy turbo Regals for decades.

All good info guys thanks a lot when money is right thats when ima get the parts holidays are a killer on the bank account lol. The 8.8 i only hear good things about them and since there is a tone of junk yards around me im sure finding one wont be a problem.

In scenarios when a 9 inch would be overkill for the power or abuse thrown at it, an 8.8 could be more ideal. The 8.8 is a pretty tough unit.

The problem with the 8.8 is by the time you get it in the car and upgraded you've spent almost as much as you would on a MWC fab 9. You can buy one of those with the tq arm axles ......everything but a center for $1400 shipped. Find you a used iron cent and some used gears and you can be in one for less than $2k......and be ready for future upgrades.

We were at a 20 roll and he was ahead of me when i redlined. So i was like lets try a 50 roll since that worked for the 2008 Gt i beat. Well i got fucked up again. I was a bit closer this time but i redlined ONCE AGAIN. Damn his gears. Im so frustrated about this. Makes me sad lol. I need to upgrade badly lol.
I am totally lost on this, I have a 98 ls1 A4 and still have 1.5K RPM to go at 140mph and still pulling are you missing a gear? or are you telling us all you where going 170mph in a stock A4?
