Default Suicide on Friday

Coming to Houston from San Antonio, I was cruising and an ******* in the Infinity that looks like the 350z wanted to play.I just got my car about three weeks ago and this is the first thing to race me.Anyway i threw it in third and passed him like a bat outta hell. Now byt his time i was up to about 120, but i slowed it down to my cruising speed of about 83.Next thing I know, a DPS officer hauls *** and gets on my *** before he turns his lights on.He was "really" cool abou the whole situation seeing as how he wrote it for 106 in a 70, passing on both the right and the left ,and that was after he saw the Military I.D. *******.But someone in Houston this weekend told me that anything over 100 is handcuffs...Is this true?

Damn dude, that sucks! Your first real race and you get nailed.

If you're gonna keep that Z then you might want to invest in a kick-*** radar/LASER detector. May I recommend the Bel 890? SOB has saved me at least $5000 in tickets and costs in the past two years.

Tough luck on your first race being noticed by the wrong audience.

From my experience the officer might be obligated to write an additional reckless driving citation for speeding over 100mph. Reckless driving usually involves a tour of the local police station facilities and additional paper work insuring your appearance in court. Sometimes a not-so-free towing service is provided free of choice. Handcuffs are an optional bonus if the cop really donut like you . . .

I would have been more concerned about this "passing on both the right and left" . . . Does this mean that you passed between two cars at over 120mph racing the Z? Ooohhh they definitely don't like that.

Yea Texas is real bad about pulling you off in handcuffs for street racing from what I hear. In fact a friend of a friend there got his liscense taken away and had to go to court to get it back not too long ago. In Oklahoma they would've just written the wreckless driving one to you. Which is still like a 150 dollar fine and many a points against the liscense. I'm just glad I've been lucky thus far.

Let me get this straight.

You were doing 120mph and the police officer is the *******?

You play, you pay. That's the risk we take.

First of All:"
Let me get this straight.

You were doing 120mph and the police officer is the *******?

He was an ******* because he acted cool he was bullshitting with me and everything so i was like he is going to give me 85 in a 70 or something like that.He didnt see me racing and i do know that as of Sep 1st 2003 in texas it is a class a or b misdermeanor for "racing" which is instant handcuffs along with towing along with not getting your car back for a few days,or something like that.I do know what the price is for racing, but there are a few ways i like to look at it...
Some people pay 400-500 dollars a NIGHT at maybe a strip club or buying YAYO ,as there form of entertainment.Street racing is my form of entertainment, so i do accept the fact that every once in a while i have to pay my lawyer, who is damn good,no tickets on my record yet,100-200 dollars to take care of a ticket. Sorry for the rant, but damn.

simply put...

152 in a 65....in CT....

cop was getting on the highway as I passed an onramp, I slammed on the brakes down to about 100, he naturally pulled me over, asked me how fast I was going, I said about 95 or so...he comes back with a ticket for $279, 81+ MPH!!! he told me I didnt want to have to go to court because anything more than that and it would be reckless driving...he too saw my mil ID

before I catch **** about going that speed in the highway I want to say that it was on a stretch of highway that was straight, flat, and free of all traffic, I mean NOBODY was out...I dont do utterly ridiculous **** like that unless I feel its relatively safe...

and just to add to that, about the cop being the *******....

if you respect the officer, using "sir" and "yes" and "no" and avoid sounding like a punk, sit up straight in your seat and let him talk and dont interupt, Im sure that cops would take it a lot easier on you...I was only 20 at the time, and I think part of the reason I got off so easy was because the car was in my name...just a theory anyway...had it been "daddy's car"...ohhhh boy.....

I feel ya on the respect thing, that is what i do anyhow. And i work hard for this country so i can afford fast cars.I came off a deployment and bought my 98 C5, which got stolen and led to me having this car now...The ironic thing is i didn't ever get pulled over on 10 in my TORCH RED corvette, and i constantly went 90 cruising speed, as long as someone else was behind me.

No **** from me dude, I know exactly what you are talking about. I try not to pass anyone at over 100mph. Otherwise, I am prone to the same thinking. I just make sure the conditions (light, dry, uninterrupted vision) and the vehicle (mostly tires) are safe. My wife hates my "preflight" of circling the car and checking the tires condition + pressure before leaving the garage.
