I don't why we deal with this **** so often.... But is it really that hard to believe that one guy was in his power band and running well and the other guy just didn't have enough, wrong gear, trunk full of junk, running bad, whatever..???

I'm not saying that the camaro had a y-pipe only. Not all cars run the same. Out of 10 cars, one will be a factory freak, 8 will be the 'average' and 1 will run like dog poo.

My SS bone stock did 316rwhp/324rwtq on a dyno jet at Sin City Performance back in March 2012. Granted it is the highest I personally saw on a bone stock car, but I have seen a lot of 30x rwhp/31x(low 32x)rwtq cars, mostly 01 and 02 models.

I would have questioned the numbers, but everyone else that put their car on the dyno that day did pretty much what they were suppose to.

Brian's 07 3 valve Mustang (beautiful car) with muffler delete, no-kitties xpipe, air intake (forget which one) and IIRC, superchips tuner put down 284rwhp. Which he said was right where it should be.

I was put on the dyno after him. When my numbers came up, said he wasn't surprised now that I ran away from him like I did when we had a some fun in Mexico.

Anything's possible, more like that the driver just sucked... we already know he's got **** poor judgment in the vehicles he races.

But with that said... the race looked about right to me. I know the ladies here LOVE it, but I haven't seen much to love about the 5.0. I pulled on one the other day in my Deville.

Of course, I'll freely admit that Dude had a passenger, while the Caddy was freshly washed, the trunk was empty, the air was off and I was the only one in it. I wouldn't want to misrepresent my advantage.

Lol at 14 stock avg^

No.

But I'm still surprised by outcome of the race.

I dyno'd 309 and ran 13.5 stock :-(
Ahhhh I'm thankful for the aftermarket O:-)

I went 13.1 @ 108.59 in a 2.1 60ft bone stock. Bogged launched and hit limiter on 2-3 and 3-4 shifts, was a strong car stock I just can't drive it to its potential.

The race looked about right? Please explain that statement. Or are you just brand loyal?

I don't care how much of a factory freak the Camaro may be. With the mods listed, it wouldn't be within 20whp of what a 2013 5.0 typically dynos stock (360whp give or take). Please explain how the Camaro, with the mod's listed, put over 4 cars on the Mustang? The driving looked fine on both cars.

The camaro has the same mods as the 5.0 truck on here that pulls vipers.
You know....the stock one

Lets just pretend for a moment that this Z has 330whp bone stock, from the factory...I don't think anyone has ever seen that but, let's just pretend. The y-pipe mod will not net 10whp with the rest of the exhaust stock...but, for arguments sake, lets say it did. That's 340whp. The 5.0's stock dyno around 360whp, give or take a few. Please explain how the Camaro, with the mod's listed, put over 4 cars on the Mustang? The driving looked fine on both cars.
Man, I don't for one minute believe ANY of the factory HP numbers anymore. Everything that claims to be 600Hp is slower than my car, so... since my car isn't 600hp... someone's lyin'.

In my experience the 5.0 isn't pushing anywhere near that. I've never had one dyno'd, but I've not seen anything worthy of the tout, nor all this adulation.

The same people that claim the 5.0 is close to 400hp claim my car is about the same and every single 5.0 that has ever come my way has been D E S T R O Y E D by my car. Not 'beat', not 'edged out' ... DRUG DOWN THE ROAD! I am telling you that the 5.0s that I've come across are not even remotely competitive. And my car has MAJOR problems, from the tune, down.

Now much the same with the reasonably stock LS Zs, just not as bad.

Again, one can say that the driver of the Z is more capable with their ride and that's entirely likely. Which is about as generous as I am likely to be.

So your question is how can a more powerful car get beat to the degree that it did? Easy and most likely answer is: It's not a more powerful car. Beyond that, we're probably talkin' miracle here and I'd come down on that with a "Sure... God loves the General... What's not to love?"

If that answers your question, there it is.

Oh! I LOVE that mod... I wish I could afford it. But Mom always told me that it cost too much and should be avoided.

I agree. stock for stock they're a lot closer than that.

Well weight helps here... My raceweight with a full tank of gas stock was 3590lbs... A fatass in a loaded 5.0 would make it interesting. Even at stock power levels.

Didn't the OP say he had a Y-pipe? My guess is that THAT was connected to a set of headers... who remembers that? It's hardly worth the time to mention it... but that would definitely improve things... .

The camaro was on slicks and skinnies as shown in the vid, got to account for rotational/unsprung mass. He did 13.0 @ 108 bone stock in dead heat of summer, 12.7 @ 113 with stock all seasons and skinnies and y pipe in much colder temps, and 12.5 @ 111 recently with the addition of drag radials.

I also did 12.5 @ 111 mph and me and the camaro in the vid did a highway pull 40-130 and it was dead even(even went into od at 120 and it was still neck and neck), couldn't be a closer race.

It's not a freak and he doesn't have nitrous, he did sell a kit that was on it and bought an on3(I think) turbo kit for it. Should be on the car and tuned within a matter of weeks.

Stock 5.0's here in ~2000 da like typically do 13.0-13.3 @ 107-109 mph.

12.5 car trapping 111, versus a ~13.1 car trapping 108 mph. Seems about right to me?

The Mustang had a passenger and the camaro did not.

So a ~380 whp(he did that; but in all reality I would say it's more like ~360) 6 speed manual ~4000 lb mustang(2 passengers) versus a 340 whp ~3500 lb car(only driver).

The outcome seems expected to me?

The Mustang did 380/380 on a mustang dyno, seemed higher than stock. Supposedly the "best coyote tuner in the southwest" did the dyno pull for his car in 4th too.

I ran 13.5 @ 108 on a 2.3x 60' stock. First time to the track with a stick car too. It was also hot as ***** that day as it was August. That was the only time I ran it bone stock.
