Default 00' GT vs. Catfish

Did a few rolls with my buddy in his Camaro. Unfortunately, the road was pretty gravely and difficult to get traction on. I was still pretty happy with how close our 2nd 3rd gear pull was.

I think the puddles you guys were going through had a little bit more to do with not hooking than the gravel....

Good runs

Good runs! I think those 4.10's were responsible for keeping things a little tighter intially

Nice video, no offense but looks like he can pull you hard at will.

Good runs OP, he definitely has the faster car but your mods (especially the gears) help keep it close enough to have some fun.

At what speed was your 2nd gear pulls from? Looked like he was nowhere near the powerband in that roll.

He pulled you pretty hard. Good deaths.

Good runs. Sounded like you guys started at about 30mph for the second gear pull lol. That about 15-20mph out of the power band for that gear in his car. That's the only reason that was a semi close race.

Even with the 4.10s, 30mph is a little out of the powerband for the Mustang too. With the LS1's broader range, it doesn't suffer nearly as much from dropping out of the proper rpms.

Yea, the terrible bogging sound means it was right at home

OP, if you did "full bolt ons" you might give him a run if he only has very minor weight treduction. When my 04 gt was full bolt ons it made 270 rwhp, with a 3.90 gear and 5-speed it would usually hang right there with a bone stock LS1 f-body...drivers race at that point really

Seemed pretty obvious that both cars were bogging to me.

Yes full long tube exhaust, gears, tune, udp's, cai, bigger TB/plenum, aluminum driveshaft. Plus it was a no options gt...no abs, no traction control, base stereo, cloth seats, etc...was a tad lighter than most new edge gt's. Actually I remember watching a bone stock LS1 SS (6-speed) running 13.4's at 104 at the track, compared to my 13.2 at 106 on that day.

Nice, was that on a dynojet or loaded dyno? My '01 made 267/310 w/ shorties, untuned (I'm assuming), but that was STD correction.

It was a Dynojet. To be exact it made 269/305. Yours was a Dynojet as well? Those are some good numbers...especially with shorties and untuned

Yeah, it was a dynojet. I'm guessing that if it was done w/ SAE corrections it would have been right around 260/300. They were equal-length shorties (a smidgen better than unequal?) , and I'm guessing it was untuned because just taking the heat shield off the CAI was enough to throw a lean code.

Edit: Mine was an early-'01, so it still had the T45. If yours was a 3650 that would explain a little of the difference, because my understanding is that the 3650 sucks a little more power than the T45.

Gotcha! I didn't realize 3650 ate more power like that

Nothing like the automatic/manual difference, maybe a couple/few hp. Something you'd only notice on a dyno.
