5.0 vs LS1. We know who wins.

Can you not hear the 5.0 in the video?
Yes I do spin some off the line you can hear the tires chirp, I cut 1.8's on drag radials but decided to come for fun and didn't want to break anything.... So I went on all seasons.
The car would have done 12.2-12.3 with front swaybar off and drag radials on...
With a stall the car will run high 11's. Going TSP 1 7/8 and true duals too... So in the same or better DA will be good for 114-116 traps and 11.6-11.9.

Them Ford boi's are hypin' since they finally have something to compare to our LS1's. Even though for a fraction of the price, we still can hand their *** to them.

You're right, with the sheer volume of LS1s out there compared to a motor that's only been out since 2010, the LS1 should have been able to cover enough ground since 1996 (97 vettes) that the 5.0 has to play catch up due to being so new.
This isn't anything that's never happened before. Look how many F-body guys have jumped ship to the 5.0. They don't do it because it's cool to say you have a new Five Oh.
This is why the SBC has a bigger aftermarket than both, and the SBF (both the 8.2 and 9.5 deck) as well.
It makes me chuckle when the LS1 guys boast about price and affordability, etc. What do you think the aftermarket and engine prices were like in 2000 for the LS1 compared to what they are today?
Give it some time, let people wreck 5.0s and have them in JYs, let some more power increases happen with the new models, the price of 5.0 engines will come down just like other domestic motors of the past.

I would say all stock LS1 M6 cars should easily trap 107+. Not the A4 cars though. Like Mike Morris said, they are more likely to be in the 103-106 range. My bone stock to the paper air filter 99 Z28 trapped a best of 108.5 bone stock at 2000' DA. It never trapped below 107 unless I missed a gear. This was 14-15 years ago. Had a bunch of friends with LS1 F-bodies, and they all were right around 107-109 bone stock with all different versions of the F-body.
Hell nearly every a4 ls1 car I've seen at Cordova (friends who owned them not just random cars) has managed 105 traps.
Of course I do know of a 98 car for whatever reason was lucky to trap 103... One guy eventually had to fix his knock sensors and found the rocker needle? bearings in the oil pan.
No. All 5.bros running 12.4 is like saying every fbody runs 12.8. I won't deny it's happened but to make it seem like every car off the lot can run the same is insane.

Wow I didn't know that...
No, he bout a shell w/interior we took a fresh 5.0 short block and parts listed put it together. Took the rear, drive shaft, power steering rack (didn use the hydroboost the cobra had), gas tank, 5 spd, wiring harness & computer etc of his GT. Plus all tubular K member and suspension minus a-arms. Put it all in the clean cobra.
Only issue we had was the security sys wouldn't supply power to the fuel pump. Asked Ford dealer and some forums w/ no resolution so we ran a switched power wire. And the horrible BBK quality header & X fitment.

Good runs! That 5.0 runs lazy with the auto. You ever find out who he uses for a tune?
I'm here if any bolt-on LS1 cars want to run an x-pipe/tune 5.0 with a 3.31 rear! I have't lost to any F-body's with similar, or more, bolt-ons, so I'm ready to get my **** pushed in by all of the lid/cat-back 113 trap cars!
Is that why the S197 in the 3H videos, with the LS3 swap, runs so hard

You're from the northeast....
I'm not. Haha.
Also switching to a rear end with 3.90s, current setup has 3.73s. The rear ends making noise and about to go out so swapping in another. Wonder if it will be any faster?

The gauntlet has been thrown down, let's see if any LS1's on LS1tech accept

I'm down if you're near Cincy/Dayton Ohio. Not that I expect to win but I won't turn down the chance. You would probably put me at 3 and 3 with the new 5.Os
