14 5.0 vs butthurt dodge ram before anyone asks why a 5.0 owner is posting on here ive been a long time lsx fan and prior trans am owner so maybe that will help with some of the 5.0 hate lol.
neways this made me laugh and had to share, i was driving to work in my 14 GT premium, only mods are CAI and axleback so pretty much stock and im just cruising when i see this newish body style orange dodge ram 1500 weaving behind me and he goes by and lines up against a sport bike. ( i dont know bikes well so dont ask) point is the bike killed him, bad. so the bike turns down a street and i pull up at the next light and so does he. he starts reving his engine getting his catback exhaust real loud, i figure what the hell its a straight-away and might as well hurt his feelings twice in a day, light turn green and i give him the hit, let him pull out in front while i feather it out of the hole, then i go to WOT and pass him as if he was standing still, finally shut it down at 120 with him about 2-3 buses behind. i pulled back to 60 and he comes up again and he hits it, so i figure dam oh well, and downshift into 3rd and chase, and result is the same bus lengths. i end up pulling up at the gate to my naval base (yes im navy) and he pulls in the lane next to me and rolls down his window and with this cheesy *** grin and one hand on the steering wheel while in some sort of hillbilly lean he goes, "all stock bro". so i reply, "yes i figured when i put greyhound bus lengths on you" so he comes back with " your in a car made for racing and im in a truck that weighs 3X your weight. " im confused at this point because this guy is apparently under the thought that losing by a predictable 3 bus lengths on both races shows some sort of power or ability. he continues with saying "your 5.0 is **** bro" so at this point im done with him and a 5th gen camaro v6 that was watching the races rolls by and laughs his *** off at the ram driver and calls him an idiot. long story i know but i love the people that are that ignorant.

Much funnier when you line up at the red light, rev the hell out of your car preparing for the launch, and then ease out like you have goldfish in the front seat when it turns green. Watch them screaming away for nothing. Not worth the gas for an idiot in a stock truck.

The first time i had the wife's old 96 z28 to the track (2.73 A4) i ended up next to a ram. This was shortly after the reintroduction of the 'Hemi' and almost everyone was tired of hearing about it. I smiled to myself and wondered who would bother bringing a truck to t&t. Now her car was no 5.0 (ran a 14.2 @ 99 on that pass) but it wouldn't have mattered. iirc he went 11.8 at 117 and I spent the next eternity (14.2 seconds) trying to figure out what happened. I think that was the last time I underestimated a pickup truck. At least the one you raced ended up being slow... lol

neways a quick google would have solved your question. its a trim level of the 5.0. just like the new camaro has rs, 1ss, 2ss. the new 5.0 comes in a base model, a brembro track pack model, the premium model, boss 302 and then laguna seca. (gt500 is a 5.8 supercharged and not a 5.0)
premium is just all the options

The heaviest 1500 only weighs about 2200 pounds more than you. The area I live in has a bunch of camo jacket, John Deere hat, high school kids who constantly think they have to prove their 1/2 ton trucks. It's a waste of gas for me but I have one friend with a 5.0 who is a reformed trucker that doesn't hesitate to put the hurt on them.
