Yeah, they actually rode and handled really nice, but Jesus, talk about a glass rear end. A V1 Caddy has nothing on the early IRS Cobros. I'd still take one though

I've read where Ford acknowledged that they heard Mustang enthusiasts stress that the rear end had to be strong and addressed it with the new IRS.

If ford did that then GM better be hearing our camaro complaints! If not ill be switching due to the fact ford would be paying attention to its customers and GM aint. Im just big on customer satisfaction bc well wal mart is lol

Its MASH goofball
I don't agree with that. Weights on 5.0s vary. A base ss 1LE vs a loaded 5.0 is a damn good race with good drivers. A base 5.0 weighs less almost 200 pounds. That is the one that can cause serious but hurt and is ignored by many. Its also the cause of arguments of how fast a 5.0 truly is. The gearing in an M6 non 1LE is terrible and of course the irs makes it a challenge to launch.

I prefer to go by what these cars are actually running at the track. The Mustang is definitely ET'ing quicker that's for sure.

IRS is excellent... on bumpy or potholed roads or at the handling limits of the vehicle... and basically excessively priced unnecessary parts beyond those aspects. I have put people in otherwise identical vehicles and asked them to explain the differences after a quick ride over normal roads in the area... NONE noticed that 1 had and 1 didn't have IRS.
PS If Ford made this one to work as well as say, the Corvette works... nobody will care too much after a few yrs. If not, people will fabricate something that works and Ford will have a poor rep for those faults much the same as GM has for the Camaro SS.

I have a 03-04 cobra that I can drive anytime I want... "grandfathers" and it wheel hop's pretty bad if you give it a good launch and its completely stock. I'm not saying that an IRS can't launch, but they are less forgiving then a live axle. IRS's have gotten a hundred times better since then, as my G8 doesn't have as much wheel hop. I have seen plenty of IRs cars run single digits, but I doubt that's without bracing and girdle covers that go with keeping the IRS alive.
