Default First Death in my C5 Z06 :(

On Feb. 18 2014 I totaled my SS Camaro that is in my sig. So naturally I upgrade to a 03 C5 Z. Had the car less than 2 months and haven't really done any racing in it until today...

I was heading down the highway and I spot a 2012-2014 mustang pull out. I didn't pay much attention as I thought it was a V6 at first but I quickly realize that it was a GT500... I get giddy like a school girl and pull beside him and shoot a rev to get his attention. We get through traffic and get beside each other slow down to ~40 and he doesn't wait for a honk or anything. He takes a fender on the hit and then slowly pulls on me the whole time. At 120 he lets out with a 1 1/2 car lead.

We stop and chat he was a really cool dude and gave thumbs up. He was in a '12 GT500 that had 650rwhp not sure on all the mods but he said ported and pullied blower and ran 7.4's at the local 1/8 mile track on street tires. I was in a 03 Z06 headers, CAI, custom cam, Fast 102 and NW 102 TB, and stock cat back and made 455rwhp.

It was a honorable death. Do you guys think I did OK and it happened the way it shoud have. I'm not real familiar with the new GT500's

Sounds like a good run to me. It's hard to overcome a 200whp difference from a roll.

Sounds about right to me too, but a friend of mine says it should've been closer because of the weight difference... looks to be about 700-800 lb difference. So 10 hp per 100 lbs still give him a ~120hp advantage plus him taking the hit. I'd say I did just fine

Nice death. For having 200RWHP on you-you did very well. 2012 GT500 is much better than the older ones for sure.

yea not bad, sounds like a mid 11s Shelby, high teens to low 120 trap car, judging by the 1/8 and fat shelbys, that's a good match up, it'll come to do driver and whose side baby Jesus is on

Thanks Mike I wish that guy was stock...I'd have won then but oh well you win some you lose some.

I hate that I lost to a Mustang but it was on heck of a Mustang...a 5.4L V8 supercharged making 650rwhp. I'll get him next go around just need to get myself a supercharger.

Lol I don't know why you're mad, I don't care about the weight difference...that's 200rwhp is a lot to overcome. You did well. Just get some giggle juice and give it another try.

C5Z is a bad car man. That was a good death none the less at your power level.

Mod it and it gets much more interesting. My 01 Z on 9 psi P1Sc1 Procharger with 600rwhp is a strong lil combo that can hang with quite a bit. Takes a GT500 weight car usually over 700-750 wheel to normally get me from a roll

Power to weight...

With 650whp he should trap least 130. Run least mid 10s if was to put a tire on it. Thats what buddies does plus few others I know with around same power.

Damn good run. Hell no you shouldn't be ashamed, despite the haters, a well driven even slightly modded Shelby is serious bidness.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I honestly don't feel bad anymore. Looking online at YouTube vids it looks like it was exactly what should've happened if not worse...

At least I know that my Z06 "should" be in the 11's 1/4 mile.

BTW I've been shopping for a supercharger lol gotta mod up

It should be in the 11's stock on a drag radial lol. I would expect low 11's/high 10's with your mods and power.
