I wanted to try out Wild Horse Pass Dragway, but they have no schedule. They still open?

 

im no pro drag racer, and im sure my car wud be fater with nore seat time. but dam why are all these doushes hung up on saying they run 10s?
i cant count the times ive heard it also
"my old xxxxxx ran 10.2 but i sold it"
"my car wud run 10s but i took the turbo off"
"i run 11.1 but i dont race anymore."
it wud run low 10s for sure but i blah blah blah.

I ran a 12.3 at 116 and im proud of it. and i agree with the op if someone say there ***** faster, either meet me on a county road, show me the video, or shut the **** up lol

 

I don't even believe THAT ****. I need to see that **** in person. I had someone come up to me and tell me 'oh ****, thats a corvette engine?' and i was like 'yeah, ls2' and he's like 'i got an ls2 also'.

So then I see him again, same spot later on, and he's like 'check out the pics of my corvette' and its some nice looking black ZR1 and it SAYS ZR1. and I ask him 'its a ZR1'? and he says 'yeah. LS2 engine, and he shows me the engine compartment... and sure enough... no blower. That recognizable black intake manifold staring me right in the face, saying 'THIS GUYS FULL OF ****'... so I just nodded and said 'We should run em one day' and thats been the end of that.

I can't even accept a vid or pic as proof. I need that **** to be in the flesh! LOL

 

You'll find a lot of bullshitters at a parts house.

Best part is the Autozone I shop at in my hometown, they'll call your **** out on stuff like this. And that's why I gladly shop with them.

It's crazy how ignorant people are, and how others will prey on them too. Why lie though? I don't get it. They hear of a Turbo 2.0 Optima pulling 0-60 in 5.xx seconds and think they are faster. They don't realize that that's on a prepped track in optimal conditions, then corrected to sea level. But their SRT beat one in a street race so if the Optima runs 14's and I beat it by 15 cars (because it let off), then I run 10's!!!

There's this kid I work with that used to be much like this. Then he met me, he has a 3000GT (non-turbo) and we raced, I whooped him... BAD. I never broke 100mph. When I let off, he did the typical ricer fly by. He told me when he passed he was doing over 110mph. I called Bullshit and I explained the physics of speed and horsepower and how it's not possible for his 220 hp car to be doing 110mph in that distance. I told him to take it to the track and depending on the DA he'll run between a very high 14 to a low 16. He took it to the track a couple months later and ran a high 15, DA's were around 4000-5000; I don't remember the exact DA. He's my young padawon now, LOL.

Some are just ignorant spewing ignorance they heard. I call it the perpetuation of ignorance.

Others are intentionally ignorant.

They are insecure about the car they drive, they think an exhaust will fool people.. It does for the most part

 

hes anyone one here seen an srt4 that runs 10's? i have seen 1. sounds like the scene is the same no matter what part of the country you are in. ive had a ton of people laugh at my gtp and subaru. then i ask them what they drive and they show me their cut up honda with an ebay turbo kit on it and say how fast it ran in the quarter. yet when i ask for a run they are like "naw man my turbo timer isnt working or ive go a boost leak in my nos fogger blah blah blah". and the best story ive ever heard to date was on xbox with some kid talking about how his brother swapped a ls5 into his sunfire and put a 4 speed manual in it with a cobra rear end.

 

I ran 10's once! I planned to run 10's in the vette, but never put a MT on it to hook. It trapped 124 so I think with a good launch it would have done it! Now my goal with the new z28 is to run 10's in the upper 120 mph range.

 

10's for me only exist in my dreams. It will probably be one of those things on my bucket list that will never happen. lol

 

I run 10s...all y'all that don't, really suck...thanks for making me feel fast! lol

I ran some deep 10's on my old set up. I felt like a god among men whenever I went Into a parts store.

How did you end up using the word "y'all". I thought that was something commonly used in the South (of US)

 

I got friends all over the place and pick up their lingo here and there.

 

In that case I ran 10's too, now I'm in the 8's....

I should be in the 7's though....

 

ha good point, i agree. out of all the wannabes that ive tried to line up with, only one was honest, he said guy i have a hacked up civic with a wing, it runs 14s on a good day, ud smoke me. i got more respect for that kid than 99% of the parts store/parking lot badasses.
