I think I'd have gone auto with the Corvette... but it's probably cheaper to sell that and go with the F-body simply due to initial costs, so I get that.
I'd much rather a well built 200-4r than a 60, but there is a limit to what they can handle, well short of the super heavy 80.

a well built 2004r is quite strong. however I sheered the input shaft clean off one with a zooted up 400 sbc once. had to pony up for a billet input shaft and then it was bulletproof. it'll cost around $3000 to do one up properly.

Agreed completely, I'm "negative" right now on the whole 'buy a built 4L80 and do the install versus build a decent 4L65E' thing. Third rebuild, 2nd paid for rebuild (3rd one was free as it lasted only a few days) and into the damned thing for probably $4500 versus a $3500 conversion. And to top it off, I fully expect it to last a very short time after I hook up the nitrous... never would have thought my trans would be my weak link on my build damnit.

Nothing against any builder, but I'd never really expect any 60e to hold up against the abuse of a 700whp car, unless it was extremely lightweight. They just seem to be too finicky.

The car should be around stock weight. It will have all the turbo stuff, but also a/c will be all removed and no exhaust on the car and a drag setup. idk I hear bad things about 4l60e's, but that car I had in the video had a stock 4l60e and took all the abuse I threw at it. Even took a 100 shot for a long time and never broke. The car ran 11's@120+ launching with a 3600ish stall!

Well I had a level 5 or 6(can't remember) FLT and kept burning up clutch packs. Those light duty transmissions are so temperamental to heat and I could never keep it cool. The 80e doesn't have this issue. It gets to about 180* but has been in the car since January of last year. Only issue I had was a pump seal that popped but the trans itself has been great. I'd argue that getting a junkyard 80e and slapping a shift kit in it would have better longevity than a built 60e when you start throwing power at it. One of my buddies is making about 750whp through a junkyard 80e and that thing takes a lot of abuse. Food for thought. Get money for the rpm and buy an 80e. You'll probably end up in the green depending how you do it.

Also the issue with the 60e is not how it would do at the track. The guys that swear by the 60e and have power don't street drive their cars in and out of traffic. That's what kills the clutches. The thing heats up and starts to melt the material on the clutch packs and that's when you lose gears. I never had an issue with the hard parts.

I was gonna say I had a 3600 stall in the car in vid in first page and my temps never got above 180. I guess will see what it can do. If it fails I'll have rpm rebuild it cheap. Resell it and go 80e. I don't really plan to make over 600rwhp for a year or 2 anyway so hopefully it can take that
