His car is a fully built 95 Mustang with a Dart Block, Victor jr heads, Vortech, etc etc, the car on pump gas put down 750 to the tires,
My car is an SS with bolt ons and Vortech at 7 lbs.
We went from a roll since we were both on street tires.
We both look at each other and go . My converter flashes and my tranny downshifts, I"M OFF! I got a good jump, his car is a stick and he started in 3 rd gear and he was pedaling it to get traction. My car is pulling like a son of a bitch, I'm hear him shift into 4th and now his car has traction, we are approaching speeds of 110+ now, his car reels me in and passes me.
I expected to get killed much worse, I was very happy. He did have a passenger but damn he has 300 more hp than me.
We went again on I-4 if you're familiar with the area, found a nice long stretch of road.
We line em up and go, he starts in 3rd my car is taching at like 2500, we both hit, my car downshifts into 2nd and blows the tires loose, I pedal it to regain traction but it was too late, he got some good traction and was off, this time we stayed in it pretty long, he ended up getting me by a good 5 cars and the more we stayed in it the more he kept pulling away.
pretty cool race, this guy is one of the big dawgs around here and now I have something to shoot for. All in all I'm very satisfied with my car's performance.
to give you an idea of how fast this guy runs, when he was tuning his car at the track, he was doing an 11.00 at 131 on STREET tires. He would baby launch it and then short shift into second, and then when he third he would get it on it. the car would ice skate all the way to the finish line.
Just need a few more mods, and I think I could be a solid contender..
ahh if i only had a money tree in my backyard...

you don't necessiarlly need to break the bank to get more hp. if a cam upgrade is good for 30-40 rwhp in a n/a ls1, i would imagine that a good blower cam would be worth at least a good 50-60hp for you, if not 70hp or more.
the problem you're gonna run into is the high compression ratio of the ls1 engine. it just isn't boost friendly. you could possibly look into alcohol injection like the QMP guys used on their turbo formula, but i am guessing that option may be more turbo friendly do to electronic adjustable wastegates.

i agree. my compression isn't all that bad, the weak link is the cast pistons, rod bolts, valve springs and pushrods.
I'm not interested in doing alcohol injection at this juncture, i will consider that when i have a built short block.
yes his car is very much a 9 sec car. what's cool is he runs on the street and will race anybody.

got a prototype lid going in that's supposedly worth 20 hp. in a few months I'll do a nice blower cam. By then I'll have the 18 inch Nittos and we'll try again.
