Default C5 Z06 vs Bolt on Z28..

My buddy got a c5 Z with cold air and catback a few weeks ago. He's coming from a mildly built mr2 that he could drive really well but I wanted him to get some seat time in the Z before we raced. Well tonight on my way home I ran into him at a light so we headed to a road where we could get some runs in.
Run 1 was from a dig and it was not pretty for him but I'll admit I jumped a bit.

Run 2 from a dig and this time I made sure to leave when he left and again.. I literally had a bus on him by ~70mph and was pulling hard.

Run 3 from a 20 roll and I jumped a car on the hit and kept a slight but steady pull until 100mph when I shut down. ~2.5 cars id say.

Overall I'm pretty impressed, i can consistently hit 0-60 in 3.8-3.9 so we figured id get him from a dig but I was expecting him to come around me at 100ish, especially from the roll. My car has gears, full exhaust, p&p tb, 3800 stall, tune. Still have an ls1 intake.. For a couple more weeks. I'll have track times within a month id say.

Sounds like some good runs, I had a similar run with my cousin's C5Z when I had a bolt on SS, once he got more seat time though during that 3rd gear he'd pull me like crazy. What year Z is it?

Nice runs. He needs more seat time in the Z. Once he gets it down he should be able to get by you.

What year is the Z and what tire are you running?

Good kill. As others have said though, he's gonna get you once he has a little more seat time. Time to mod up!

Yeah that's what were thinking. My car is pretty light though and I weigh 135 so there's not much there haha. Still have ac and front/rear bumper supports but no backseat, front sway, spare, 4speakers total and some other things here and there. Were gunna run again in a few weeks but by then I'll have an ls6 intake and new exhaust. Tired of the 3in y pipe with a 2.5 muffler, whether or not it makes a difference I think about it every day lol. Just gunna go 3in x pipe with xr1s dumped

We will see. I wish I had videos because there was never a time that I wasn't pulling. He really is a good driver it's not like it's his first manual, I think it's his 4th car. I'll be sure to record it the next time we run after he gets more comfortable.

2001 makes a little more sense. They were the 385hp cars. Still should be able to keep up, run you down once the driver gets some more time with the car.
