If he had 3.31s it would be faster from a roll than with 3.73s

I have 3.73's, MT82, shift at 7650. From a 35 roll the car rolls tf out hard. Same with a 60.

No doubt about it. That's how my car was geared until last night. Me and the ol' man pulled my center section out. Was running a 3.89 with a 28 inch tire. Which the effective ratio is around 3.71. Dropping the diff off today at Moser to get 4.30's installed. Before the 3.89 on a 28 was basically like you just posted. Third gear in my car feels a little flat compared to 1st and 2nd. Effective ratio will be about 4.12 now. I am running a hopped up 383 in a lighter car. Just hoping I can stick first gear once I go to a 295/55 mickey. Then it will be just what I want I think.

Wish I could swap gears and still keep the strong rear diff.

with 7k redline and 325/30/19 I'm hitting 60 in 1st, 90 2nd, 120 3rd, and 160 in 4th.

Came up with a solution though. Just keep adding power until 3.42 is optimal.

That is always a option. I don't plan on adding power so I am optimizing the gearing at this power. There will still be about 10mph left in the quarter running 4th if I ever wanted to spray it a little. Most likely won't happen.

Don't get me wrong, I'd swap gears if it was possible. Definitely not swapping both transmission and diff to weaker base C6 version just to swap gears, though.

HHHMMM....didn't know I said that. You know if you're gonna put words in peoples mouths you should start your own forum and speak for erryone.

But hell Hio, if the MT82 makes them so much faster - you could always try to swap one into your catfish.
Oh I don't think it would make me faster........probably miss alot of gears tho.

Gearing is funny. No tq havin motors need it. Solid tqy motors don't.

Gear mostly helps from a dead stop with traction. With out traction it's not that benificial. Gear the car for the speed you intend running.

Does anyone ever swap in a fbomb t56?

With gears I could see your 1st gear being really short with your trans. I think the spreads are a little better with the fcar stuff.

I had a couple gto t56's I thought about using once but the gearing and calcing it just didn't seem to work out for me.

Hell no! That car is built to go fast. A f body with rattles makes you want to stay slower lol. My Scat Pack cruises 130 smoother than 50 in my Camaro lol.

Idk 3.31 is were its at for a CJ car if you plan on roll racing . Wasn't really fair against the 3.73 cars I ran with that setup .

I could see with how aggressive the gearing in the tranny is that a lower rear gear like that could be the happy medium. I think 4.10's are and obviously always been the happy medium on a 26" tire for a 6 speed 4th gen with basic mods to full heads cam and spray. After that you jump up to a 4.30 with a 28" then you are good to around 140 up around 7krpm in 1:1. I am talking quarter mile racing though.

Surprisingly enough, nope. C6Z06/ZR1 and manual GS rear diff is 3.42 and there are no options to change it.

4th carried me past 145 mph witch if I remember right was at like 7500 rpms . I perfer the roll runs over tearing **** up at the strip .

If having you stumble over your words when you try to pass your opinions off as facts makes me a low life, then yep! Further proof that you'll sit on anyone's dick who gets off to LS anything, in this case - Misty We all knew you'd stoop low but this is surprising, even for someone as classless as yourself.

I think you're just salty about my location information
