Default 335i vs a few

335i has full bolt ons minus inlets and methanol. 60% e85 mix spikes to 24psi and tapers to 15.9 by 6200rpms.

C5z06 has full bolt ons and heads/cam. It made 452rwhp. He had a passenger.

14 5.0 full bolt ons, aed tune, flex fuel conversion( he was 100% E85), 100 shot. This car made 509rwhp on 93 octane with the 100 shot.

First run was from 60-140 for them. I was to low in 3rd and bogged. They instantly jumped out almost a full car and. At 120 I had a misfire and let completely off, I was 2 cars back at this point. I had to pull over and completely shut the car down to clear the code out.

5.0 and z06 played a couple more times while I was catching back up. He had the videos.

We get off the interstate and talk some and decide to go back and try from 70-140. I brake boost some and it helped. This time it was a little better. I still lost but only by 1.5 this time and had no misfire..

I wanted a lower roll, but they were having traction issues on the runs.

Ctsv v2 full bolt ons and .cammed. On some weld rts.

I came into the race expecting to be a football field behind.

We did a dig run and a our friend was the flagger. He drops his arm and the v spins some and I'm off. I keep a fender on him to woo and then by 130 he's put 2 cars on me.

Terminator cobra with full bolt ons and a 2.3 whipple on 19psi.

He wanted a 45 roll to 135.. So He wouldn't spin. We'll low and be hold he spun and I put 2 lengths on him fast. Through part of nerd I put almost another car on him. By 135 I was still a length on him. I stayed in it to see when he would catch up. Took him to 150 to catch up. This is the only one on video so far.

https://youtu.be/0UKHP0bYizI

All these fast cars and only one would do a dig with my 4 door bmw. I will order inlets, antilag kit and methanol soon and rematch with the z06. I need to pick up another fbody or corvette.

Good showing for the n54 for sure.

And I second the motion for another LS vehicle... even with upgraded turbos and port injection, I still feel the urge to go back to a domestic v8.

You can't go wrong with a v8. I love n54 cars and the one I have now is my 3rd, but you just can't beat the feeling of a v8 pulling a tire.

Love the n54 Bimmers. Wouldn't mind one and have looked many times at them. Just wish I was better experienced with them for maintenance items.

Hard to beat beat the sound of a cammed pushrod too.

With about 3k in parts( New, used can be had for a lot cheaper) it will go from low 13 to mid 13s to 11s alld at long on a e85 mix.. Or just spend 1k for a good nitrous kit and do the same thing.

I just have to fight the temptation of putting a single turbo on it. It's so easy to do with these cars.

^ Word.

I've already been looking at an entire system upgrade and tuning to run 100% e85.

Just saw an intro 6266 top mount kit from docrace priced at $5K, not a bad deal compared to the motiv and vm kits.

Plus the on3 kit is supposed to be better priced than the other single kits.

Truthfully, I probably wouldn't have bought my upgraded twins had I known that a bunch of single kits were going to flood the market within a year of purchase.

That's why I'm holding off. Give other people time to release kits, have real world customers test them and report problems.

I've thought about fabricating up my own twin turbo upgrade, but the turbo placement is tighter in these cars than longtubes are on a 4v Mustang lol!

The funny thing is there is not a whole lot that goes into a single turbo kit outside of provisions for the 1st and 2nd o2 banks. Honestly I'd run a cxracing one but you'd swear on the bimmer forums that it's a pile of crap because it doesn't carry bmw tax

Cxracing has decent stuff. There are purists thought that will not use anyone cheap and that goes for a lot of corvette guys I know too..

I will be looking into the hexon or rb twins. I'm not looking for big numbers, just enough to hit 10.9s-11.2s...

Antilag is ordered, will order the inlets next week.

Some cocky Bimmer guys like to overpay.

Love the N54 motor.

What are the weaknesses of n54 335xi Awd models? Just much heavier or what?

Feel free to chime in, *****.

The biggest problem with these cars is if something does break I don't know how to fix it just yet. Saying big things like transfer case, transmission, bottom end, etc. small stuff is pretty well documented.

Otherwise the big thing seems to be the automatic Trans will eventually start slipping at higher hp levels. The awd cars are a little heavier but then again you don't have to worry about spinning so unless you have some rear drag wheels it's not that big of a concern I suppose.

Truth and word!

I've fell completely in love with the N54 engine. Nowhere near as complicated as people church it up to be.

What did you end up running in your AWD car? Forgot what all you had done to it. I think an AWD n54 335 would be a perfect, fun, winter beater around these parts.
