That is a very well rounded article. It's too bad there are so few of either of the greatest examples left for some comparisons today. A notchback 5.0 5spd. in maroon and a 5.7 TPI auto Iroc in maroon will round off my old man garage one day, hopefully. If all goes real well I may even have a maroon 5.7 TPI two seater next to them. Most people look at me like I have a deformity when I pick these cars over 69' Camaro and 2017 Mustangs.

 

Funny you say that. I'm the same. Grew up loving Fox's, 3rdGens and C4's. Rather have a (3rdGen)Firehawk, TTA and a (C4) ZR1 than anything newer, or Older. Also need a Buick GN!

I can't think of any logical explanation this car didn't have a good couple year run as an option built to GNX specs... what could have been.

 

Corporate gave it the axe when they found out what the renegades that built them were doing. They rated them less hp than the vette but...

 

I'm glad to see the camaros hands untied these days

 

When they test fit the GN motor in the TA. I't wouldn't fit. The edges of the heads hit the fender wells. So they ended up putting 3800 series heads on them. After porting and what not. What happened, is they ended up flowing better. And making a good bit more Power. So, yes faster and better power (Stock) than the GN. And in a Thgirdgen GTA chassis, Way outhandled the GN of course. So, prob one of the best GM's ever built in that era. So yes, car was extremely underrated. And GM couldn't let anything out shine there King Corvette. So, one of the best cars Gm ever built. Only had about 1500 made. I know some guys that own Multiple TT/A's I just need 1! And I'd be a happy dude. It is an 89. Best year IMO!

 

GNX was faster than the Turbo T/a though as was the Calloway
