We optioned up to foxbody due to price. A used tpi anything was more used **** that. Fox was easier to go fast with too. Only 305 that ran ok was 90-92 5 5 speed 342 dual cat cars. Rest were crap. No 305 going 13s. Only tpi that ran 13s was that MW 85 Vette test at 7580. Fox was easier to get in the 12s than 305 too. You didnt even need internal mods.

I'll throw my anemic little 305 LB9 back in my car. Leaving everything else as is. BTW, my car is has an auto, so It would be very slow. And run you. Put up at least 7/8K for the trouble of pulling a motor, It would be a freaking blast!

You right. Fox's had the aftermarket. Fbodies market was small compared. And the 302 responded 100x's better to mods. Dont mix it up. I luv Fox Bodies! I grew up in the 80's right next to the biggest street racing road in the North east at the time. Rt231, AKA Deer Park avenue. I fell in love with a black 89 GT. The sound was awesome with the crappy old blowmasters they had. But watching constant light to light drag racing of fox's and f-bodies in the back seat of my parents car. Got me hooked! Next build is a fox body dss stroked motor, modern H/C/I and alot of boost. Just something I must do! But at the same time. There's way too much misinformation out here about 3rdGens! Theres plenty of fast 305 guys over at Thirdgen.org

85 tpi cars had mustangs covered to. Been there done that.

You went faster mod 4 mod in your 350 formy vs your fox mm.......don't leave that tid bit of info out.

What i find funny is we always have to dumb down the turdgens for the fox to keep up because the fox guys about cubes. Fact is both cars optioned to their max performance and the fox loses.

Considering on my big cube motor now I make about 13pd's of boost. If I threw in my cammed, Worked heads, 305 with my intake. I'd be around 18+pd's. Making an easy 450RWHP, And ALOT more RWTQ. My car is from from stock BTW. And she hooks like a Street Crawler in Hunts Point lol. I'd put bus lenghts on you're "stocker"

Right so like I said, no NA 305s are worth a ****. Thanks for helping me prove my point!

Sorry about the 302 that touched you inappropriately.

Doug has a 12 second termi swap botch. It's no longer a notch. Total botch.

BTW Ford Fan Boy. I do rember back in the early 90's. My car was 100% bone stock. And I outran my buddies 88 GT, with 373, and full exhaust. There was others too. It's funny though. When a Gm guy says stock, it means stock. Fox guys consider gears, exhaust, intakes, most bolt on's and tunes to be stock too. So...

They all sent in ringers, or motorweek was lying about the times, but both the firebird and the mustang gt had more than the 85 TPI.

Makes no sense at all. No way the Iroc with the LB9 would have lost to an LG4 powered T/A. Something not right in those drag races. Must have smoked the tires bad. The TPI motors made huge Tq down low.

WOW, The rustang looks like a Ford Escort on the road coarse. lol

Furd was famous for ringers and still are. Btw....my dad had a 85 iroc when they were new. Still has it actually. I know how they run against 5br0 fox...been there done that.

Yes....motorweek has been known to do some eff'd up ****. Just look at the gt350r vs z28 comparo where the z28 was on shot tires.

The real question is how they broke into 14's with that thing, should be a 15 second car. They had a ton of low end torque and then fell flat on their faces.

It's actually not hard to figure out if you know anything about the cars......especially the autos of that era. Typically they woukd shift way to soon and the cable style adjustment never seemed very consistent. Shift points would even change with engine/trans temperature. The fix for that would be to shift the auto trans yourself.......although that was usually not implemented in standard testing procedure. We would shift dads auto tpi car ourself. I had a 305 monza back then. It ran a 15.1 @91 mph.....his iroc would wax that thing.
