Lightnings are quick! a friend of my roomate and i were leaving hooters to go to a bar and he sees my 02 Z28. "nice car, but not as fast as mine", he says. right then he turns off the alarm to his 03-04? (it looked brand new anyway) black Lightning. i laughed and said ,"doubt it", to him. now i know zilch about these things. any way, we raced from a roll at first and what do i hear? A GODDAMN SUPERCHARGER!!!! i said ,"holy **** this things fast!". i beat him by about 1/4 car length to 90 before we shut down. i said, "screw that, let's go from a dig". we did and i walked him about 1 1/2 car lengths to 70. all i have to say is, these things are fast! ****** ford and thier ****** superchargers! lol!

keep your friends close and your enemies closer...you better brush up on whats out there otherwise you'll be getting beat alot...you lucked out as he probably was stock...srt-10's are out there now, AMG mercedes, cobras they will all give you a real good run for your money stock...if they are modded you'll be seeing their taillights pretty often. Know what your racing against or dont race at all.

My friends 00' Lightning killed an srt-10 about two weeks ago...the only mods he has done is a pulley, intake and 4 link. His truck hooked and the srt-10 didn't and the dodge wasn't catching up....He caught us at the next light and performed a VERY nice smokey burnout and asked us to go again...once again the dodge didn't find traction, and the lightning walked him. Now I can see this going completely the other way if he found traction but in my experience it doesn't matter how much power you have if the car can't put it to the ground and the driver doesn't know what their doing.

i raced a lightning with my blown s-10 a few years back when they were just hitting the streets...my truck at the time was running high 13's@98mph...i got bitch smacked from a 30-80 roll it was funny... and i think that was a 99 too...theyve gotten faster over the years.
My first run in with a L resulted in me being shocked and staying with my nose at his front tire till we shut down ~100mph. 
I dont think I had much more than a catback back then. I still remember how it sounded. I love that sound!!!
Not too long ago I ran a 99 L from a slow roll ~20mph?? and pulled him back to my bumper by 70ish..but I was trapping ~105 then.
If I ever had to own a truck I think it would be a lightning.

Feathor, more than likely that lightning was stock. A pulley and you would have seen its tail lights. This is what us truck guys are up against:

oh, it was stock except for a K & N airfilter. we talked afterwards, he couldn't believe he got beat, however small, by an N/A car. lol.
also, the ONLY way i'll trade my car is if they actually make a GT500. that thing would be TOO bad to pass up.they probably won't make one, but i can hope in rumors!

Lightning's are not to be trifled with.
Stock, they run a 14 sec flat.
About 1 G into them, and there in the low 13's.
3 to 5 G's , and they're consistently into the mid 12's.....
Impressive for a 4700 lbs. pick-up, with the aerodynamics of a barn door.
They can be made very fast for very little money.
So be careful with them, and don't underestimate them at a light.
Got a good buddy of mine with one with some mods.
Had a few runs one evening, and only pulled on him from 3rd gear on.
Got a good video of the runs if anyone's willing to host.
