Default Help!!! Vw Bug With Turbo Porsche Calling Me Out!

heres all the info i could get=

vw bug
porsche engine
porsche transmission
FK-8 cam w/ 112 lsa
the cam specs *might be* 298º 266º 0,382" 9,70 whatever the latter two mean
t3? 11psi boost
intercooler
hide away cb turbo efi 2276
44x38 comp eliminators

now, what do i need to do to beat him by a considerable margin?
btw,
i have very little cash.
what do i do?!!

is g5x-something and headers enough?
or do i need to go straight for nitrous?

a friend of mine said to go to pep boys and get these $35 15x9" wheels and put some cheap slicks on them. then brake stall from a stop and its over. but i dunno. "word on the street" says otherwise.

HELP!!!!!!!!
NOT FROM A VW!!!!!!

Ummm.....are you really thinking about betting him? My friends dad use to have Vw with a turbo 911 engine in it and it ran 9's with slicks but it had alot of work done so i dunno. I don't know really what to tell you but good luck!

I have a few options ....

1) you could just go with one of the G5X twins (2 or 3), get those slicks like your buddy said, and just to be on the safe side, some juice wouldn't hurt.

I'm fairly confident you would run mid-high 11's with either of those cams and a good set of slicks with an A4 ... the juice would hopefully bring you into the 10's ... which would put up a much better fight then a viper could. Even if he managed to run 9's or low 10's at the track ... the street will generally make it a decent amount slower (lack of prep, conditions, etc) ... but shouldn't effect you as much.

2) if a buddy of yours happens to have a Hayabussa you could borrow, that would do the trick too ... (god I want one of them).

3) You can repetidly tell him he has an womans car, that is also possibly one of the ugliest, and pointless cars ever created (what is its purpose, really? It's not fast, it's not sporty, it doesn't have cargo room, it doesn't have passenger room, it is ugly as all hell ... come on now?) Hopefully this will make him cry and he will go home.

4) my personal favorite .... have him go out to the spot, and call the cops to be there too (tip them that there is an illegal drag car there) ... they'll pull him over and inspect his **** (I'm sure something on there is illegal), hopefully take his car away, and Problem solved, YOU WON! (hehe)

Good luck.

If your talking an old vw, with a sub 2000lb curb weight, with 400-450 hp and 80% of the weight over the drive wheels, your gonna need a lot. The other porsche tech at work has a 79 930 with similar mods, puts about 450 to the ground, weigths more then a beetle and runs low 12s on 255 street tires with 125+ mph traps :O

well this stall starts me off at ~4000,
and drops to 4700rpm after shifts.

which cam would make power in this area?
x2 or x3?

im kinda leaning to the x2
cause i heard you cant upgrade heads with the x3.

btw,
since its the street,
wouldnt he have the advantage
since i cant lauch this a4 to its potential,
but his manual could pull the whole way?

his woman is taunting me=
"i timed it. he hits 120 mph in 11 seconds. that was last week. he's done
adjustments sicnce then. bye for now. "

Whats wrong with a VW?

Anywho... good luck, you are gonna need it. Old bugs can be turned into the German equivalent of american muscle, and many have been known for kicking ***... This setup seems VERY expensive, but if this is what he has(not doubting he has it) then I think you are in trouble.

If you loose to a VW in a LS1, I will fly up to where you live and kick you ***...

Get a 150 shot (NX wet), walboro FP, tires...make sure to set window switch about 300 rpm's below shift point

alright, i think im gonna go nitrous before headers and cam because i havent much cash and his bizzatch is talking too much trash.

BUT i dont want anyone to know i am running nitrous.
a wet kit is easily seen, right?
i mean, no way to hide a wet kit?
does a wet kit really perform THAT much better than dry?
i heard a dry kit is hideable in these cars.

scandalous,
but this is street, not track.

Im not too sure that a shot of nitrous that could be considered "safe" for your car would be enough to take out this car... unless he is not set up correctly, or is having problems...

There is nothing scandalous about nitrous. It's just another mod.

I got lined up against a VW bug, the older ones (late 70's, early 80's) when I was bone stock except for a lid, and I think was my second time at the dragstrip.
I'm not sure what engine he was running but the engine cover was off and it had a fat ****** turbo, I mean that damn thing was about the size of my head . Not to mention the wide *** slicks. I had a feeling that I didn't stand a chance.
Sure enough, when he took off he lifted the front wheels about a foot and a half for at least 30 feet and proceeded to run an 11.3 1/4 mile ET ( I don't remember the mph though) to my measly 13.6xx .
I returned to the pits like a dog with its tail between its legs, I got ****** bigtime.

"How do you cam a vario-cam type motor?"

Take out the old cams and replace them. theres really nothing to special in the intake cam except for a few holes throught it, and nothing special about the exhaust, they can be replaced, altough its not recomended dues to possible p/v issues if you miss a shift.
actually the FK-8 cam hes talking about is a vw cam if im not mistaken

That VW sounds pretty damn quick. Slicks and N20 are your only chance I think. And then your odds of winning are gonna be slim. You have to pray that he misses a shift or something. Good luck and get a video win or lose.
