Bolt on Mach 1 destroys bolt on LS1 Z28
Decided to take a spin on what could be the last night 70's degree day we have of 2016. Sad part is I had to knock the cobwebs off the shifter and dash (literally). Still she fired up like she missed her old friend. I let her idle for a bit to get the lubes up to temp and good. While she was warming up I gave her a quick bath then we were off. Left the neighborhood and gave it a bit of a rip in 2nd, felt good.
Going down the main road I see 2 black "sports cars" pull out going the opposite direction. As I got closer I noticed the first was a 96-98 GT with the *** planted. In hot pursuit was a black Z28 LS1 fishtailing with his *** also planted. They flew by and I said "Ah to hell with it" and did a quick U turn. I finally caught up to them and slowly coasted by. They both looked over at me and we then got caught at a redlight up ahead. The LS1 shot around the Mustang to get beside me. He had his pancake tail pipes but it was loud. Lowered with stock chrome wheels. No bumpity bump so I figured my sub 300whp might have a chance.
He never looked over, just kept his eyes on the light. Fair enough, I watched the other light to turn yellow. It did so I knew green was close by. Took the RPMs to around 2,000rpms and slipped the clutch as green came. He lifted his nose but lost about a quarter to me out the gate. I short shifted 1st into 2nd to avoid unneeded spinning and it was bye bye Mr Bowtie. I could see him shift so I know it was a M6 and just for giggles and hopes of no cops ahead I took it all the way out to around 110mph. He was about 4 or 5 lengths behind, maybe more.
He never came back up and the Mustang tried to keep up with us but I believe he gave up shortly after. Shame, I wanted a 2nd gear roll with the LS1.

I raced several different bolt on machs with my old lid/catback a4. And it wasn't even close. Machs suck.
