Default 03 cobra vert

Thursday night I went to the track for the first time with my new car. On my second pass I lined up with an 03 cobra vert. We both cut decent lights, I spun a bit the 1st gear, getting a 2.2 60', once I hook I was able to put a nose on him. I hit 2nd and stay just a head, 3rd still just ahead, then I notice him gain just a bit, I hit 4th, and he pulls me pretty hard. I ended up running only a 13.2, and he beat me by just over a car length. Later I had a chance to speak with him and found out that he is putting down 470hp to the wheels. On a goon note, before the night was over I ran a 12.98 @ 109.79 mph on a 2.011 60'. Now I need some traction and some better air so I can get deeper into the 12s.

Sounds like you both need some tires and the Cobra driver needs to drive better. 470 to wheels and only beating you by a car length is dissapointing.
What was his 60 foot and his 1/4 time? Congrats on running 12's I'm trying to run 12's without nitrous.

Yeah I do need better tires, those are coming. I didn't ask him about his 60's, because when I finally had a chance to ask him about the car, he had just blown his rear. I think I had him beat past the 1/8th mark, but he pulled really hard on the top end. He was running 12.8-12.9 that night, but said he usually runs 12.1-12.3.

Nice time obrien, shaving your 60' from 2.2 to 2.0 is great. Your MPH was great also @ 109. What's your shifting method?

He still shoud have pushed a better time then 12.1 with 470 at the wheels. Did he have a roll bar?? At my local track, anything thats a convert. and runs 13.99 and quicker needs a bar.

470rwhp in a '03 Cobra 'vert = about a 11.9 or 12.0 with a 1.8 60' or so. That's right on the money.

The guy in the Cobra either needs tires, can't drive, or both.

Yes he did have a roll bar in the car, I did notice that when I was speaking to him. Thanks south FLss. Actually, my very first pass of the night was a 13.04 with a 2.007 60'. The pass with the cobra was my second run and tried to launch just a bit harder, which didn't work. As far as my shifting method, I am just shifting normal, not powershifting. Another think I need to cure is a little bit of axle hop. That should help me hook better as well. There were storms all around the track, so the weather really couldn't have been much worse. It was hot and muggy. That is probably the reason why the cobra was running as slow as he was. I know the hot weather really hurts boosted motors.

Maybe a tenth or two...but definitely not a full second.

Convert. cobras are also heavier. If he broke his rear, it sounds like he also had tire on it.

Yup, your right. I guy here made 463rwhp and he ran an 11.7 @ 118 w/1.7 60'. They are quick, but unfortunately need so much power to overcome their weight issues. 400-420rwhp fbodies trap that mph or more.
