Wow missy must be on a lower dosage of meds! My comment on islander's races really makes it hard for missy to sleep under his mom's roof at night.

Good races, not going to train wreck islander's thread. Bring your weak **** to another thread and I'll be glad to dress you up like the little bitch you are

Nice cars, taking the headlight out is asking to get a cop close to your car. But I guess he needed all the air he could get to take on the whale off the sauce. Nice work both cars look nice

Not sure why that is though. There is already a pretty decent size hole on the inside of the fender right next to the filter. I never understood why some do this and often wondered if it really did anything for performance.

I've got same mod on my cobro. My terbo sucks from that side. I'm not convinced that it has made a difference so far.

back when I used to go to the track I would see the disappearing headlight mod a lot. Were these all turbo cobras, or do guys do it with blowers too?

Well consider this...
I'm piping a 4" tube to get cold air to the turbo. I ingest hot air from the radiator now. Anything the lowers the IATs helps. If it drops iats 5 degrees it's worth it.

I can't say that I've seen any drop in IAT as of yet.

Some CAI kits have the piping to allow the filter to get inserted into the fender well to avoid pulling hot air in. Another good option is to isolate the filter with a heat shield if your filter is still in the engine compartment. The JLT I have provides a good heat shield..imo (in sig. picture)

I would think these options would provide better results for lower IATs than removing the headlight. Without real data though, it is difficult to say what works best though.

I am finally putting my car back together, my new short block "should" be ready for me to pick up Saturday. I have some changes I am making to my front mounted turbo like running some piping to the turbo inlet instead of running a filter on it behind the radiator for this reason. I recently had 2 people ask me why I am working on a intake system, and then say it's not going to do anything. I honestly believe any restriction I may cause will be outweighed by lower IAT's.

found the opposite... my 3.5" intake tubing and cone filter were choking my 7675.

I had had to run 1 deg less timing, but picked up somewhere around 80rwhp by going to a screen (sucking in hot air).
