Yeah, the **** talk about 5th gens is unreal. Not for nothing most of the 5th gens running around are either V6 or L99 Autos with shitty drivers and give all 5th gen SS a bad rap.
I have a 2011 SS 6M LS3 with bolt-ons and HP tuners. It put down 423whp. I just ran a 2016 392 Chally last week and absolutely destroyed him on the hit. Pulled 2 cars immediately and he couldn't regain any ground on me.
The day I put my headers on I took the camaro for a spin and ran into a 2016 5.0 that called me out. Dude was cocky as hell and had his girl in the car. I ended up busting his *** bad... pulled like 4-5 cars on him. I guess he had been sippin on the 5th gens are fat and slow cool-aid a lil too hard. Ended up costing him a value-able lesson. And hell, I got 10 extra points for walking him with his girl in the car. She video recorded it too. I could see her vagina get wet in real-time as the nasty LS3 made its way past the bro brother 5.0. She left him for a Chevy guy the following week.
My car is option-less and is the lightest 5th gen SS you can possibly get. Still is only good for 100 lbs difference I am sure though.
Regardless, I look forward to being underestimated.. especially by the bro brother 5.0s.

Yeah, I would say there is quite a bit of ignorance going on as far as how the 5th gens are viewed.
It's definitely not the 5th gens fault. I blame it on the popularity of the car and all the commoners that don't know how to drive them properly in a race.

I think alot of it is L99 related. Remember most cars are automatic so most ppl are only familiar with those. They are quite a bit different in the mid range and up top. LS3 pulls decent 3rd and 4th gear. I too have a 1SS lightest configuration and shift about 6300 rpm. I've put a hurting on a few cars that have underestimated me....
I'm not delusional by any means either. 5G is no rocket ship but no slower than it's competitors (pre 2015) outside of driver mod. Mustangs do get outta the hole better, after that game on. Never lost a roll to a stock one. Gapped by a modded one however
The instrumemted tests were all close, butt dyno's close as well. I drive all kinds of sports/ muscle cars for work as a tech. I know what's faster stock....6G SS, the others are a drivers race. Tired of the 5G hate, plus its always looked so awesome to me.
