Default C7Z vs Paxton ACR Viper

I got a pretty good roll race in with a blown Viper this weekend. All the owner told me was it’s a stock motor with a Paxton, 7-8 psi. My car is CAI only.

Tightest run I’ve had in a while. The starting speed he wanted to go from was terrible for me but....I did what I could.

I thought a viper would be faster? I thought the 08+ cars trapped 125+ bone stock.

Good kill either way!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. My car traps 130 in good air.

If we could have gone from a 45 roll with me in 2nd, he would have been in trouble. My car is a straight turd starting from 3rd at anything less then 75 mph.

The Z moves out. It almost shifts as fast as I do....jk. Good race. That ACT is not slouch bone stock, let alone with FI help.

YES... it SHOULD have been in 2nd.... However, it will slam the rev limiter before it ever makes the 2-3 shift with the stock tune... Anything over about 45 mph is too fast for 2nd gear starts if you actually want it to make the 2-3 on not bouncing off the limiter.

The car hits MUCH harder starting in 2nd....

Eventually when I mod/tune it, hopefully I can improve that issue.

Thanks guys....

Its a turd, but its still fun enough. I put 200 miles on it that night going out to a meet, racing all night, and driving home...and got 19.5 mpg that tank....LOL

At this point in the game for me, less = more.

I also got a run in with a head/cam C6Z, 40 roll.... I had two cars (1 gap between bumpers) on him when I let out at 150...That one surprised me too, I figured he was gonna rape me.

Yeah for sure. You can hear him start in 2nd, and be a good ways into 3rd, while I'm still in 3rd the whole time...LOL

Same thing happens when I run my buddy with his bolt ons ZR1..... From a 40 roll, I get out on him and he never catches me. From a 60 roll, me in 3rd, he jumps out on me and yanks me the whole way....LOL...

You'd think having 8 spds would make it easier to roll race...not really the case.

Nice run! Hung right with him.

I still say that is the best looking car on this site. The color combo with those wheels are so sweet.

Depends on the weather and the driver, but in general, yes, they can trap 125+ right out of the box. With headers and a tune, they're generally in the 130-133 range, again depending on weather.

Paxton Vipers are all over the map though...some run hard, and others put down great numbers on the dyno but run like **** on the streets. I'll let you decide what kind of build that one was.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I like it for a reliable cruiser/weekend toy. Eventually I'll do bolt ons/meth/E85 on it and shoot for 9.90s on the stock engine....That's as far as I'm going with this one. No more big builds for me.

Yeah, I was expecting him to kill me honestly. I figured he would trap 135-137 MINIMUM.... Looks like its more around the 130-131 range using the ricer formula.

I do know he has a water to air IC which I thought was cool for an entry level blower setup.

The Viper also raced a cam/LBO C7Z M7 car and the C7Z only put about 2 cars on him.

I also filmed them from behind:

Afterwards, I talked to the cammed C7Z guy and he was shocked that I ran that close to the viper with my car being stock. I think that was another case of a poorly executed build honestly (cammed C7Z).
