JK, nice kill. I love E55s and am a huge AMG fan. Nobody else has cars as fast with as nice interiors as MB, period. When I picked up my C6 I almost got an 08 C63 AMG instead but it had 45k miles (vs 18k) and wasn't in nearly as good shape as the Vette. Even started researching mods for them since I really freaking liked it lol. An AMG is still definitely on the "one day I'll have one" list.

I know parts are crazy expensive for them but any plans to mod the E55, or just keeping it stock as a DD?
Thanks Puck lol. I'm torn really on what I want to do with it. I really want to do upper, longtubes, HE, IC pump, ice tank, and ECM/TCM. But you know what they say about owning an AMG out of warranty...lol. I don't want to get to the point of constantly breaking **** on it. It wasn't a big deal on the camaro because you could pick **** up for it easily. But I'm glad I took the jump. I've wanted one since this body style came out in 03.

That's honestly what scared me away last year. I had one in Colorado I was looking at, then heard all the horror stories. I found this one for a steal and couldn't pass it up. Paid $300 more for my E than I did for my Camaro. Of course I had my wife tell me I was a ***** if I didn't get it. So had no choice lol

Yep, the performance parts are expensive but for cost of ownership people exaggerate a lot. Maintenance is not bad if you can wrench at least a little bit...the issues with most MB are things like sensors and switches, and for the models that have it the air suspension is **** and dealers want like $6k to fix it (coil over conversion for ~$1k is the way to go).

OT but in 2014 I had a baby C-class for a while that I snatched from a dealer auction for $500 "not running/never diagnosed" that my buddy who was an appraiser at a dealership let me know about. Was an elderly guys car who past away, a 2003 with a whopping 48k miles - everything looked immaculate inside and out. His wife let it sit in garage for 4 months before selling but said it ran fine when parked. They lowballed the hell out of her since it was 11 years old at the time, would barely sputter when cranked on the jump box, and they had no idea what was wrong so it was listed as non-running. Based on the story I figured it was bad gas so would need MAYBE a fuel pump and injectors, so for $500 I couldn't say no. I expected to dump another $500 into it for sensors, filters, etc but both air filters were brand new, and everything was spotless under the hood and even the undercarriage. To get a baseline I charged the battery, threw in a $10 fuel filter and a can of seafoam , topped it off with premium, and by the time the tank got to empty it ran like brand new . Didn't need a thing besides a fuel filter.

Car was great - no issues, ran smooth and eerily quiet, and had some pep too with the 6cyl. Had it for a little over a year before getting rear ended sitting at a red light by a lady playing on her phone. Insurance gave me $4200+the car as a buy-back, and I sold it within a week with the crashed in rear bumper for another $1800 - so got $6k for a $500 car LOL.

I didn't want to quote you since it was long. But that's definitely getting your moneys worth and then some lol. I had talked to my wife about the coilovers, but after dealing with the Camaro she hated the idea. But once she sees the price difference I'm sure she will change her mind lol. I'm just hoping and praying I don't have anything major go wrong, but I know it's coming eventually...

Were there kids in your car? If so, please keep driving **** box slow cars. If not, still keep driving **** box slow cars until you find a decent place to race. What was that 30-55mph?

It was only like 30-60ish. Just hit it and got off of it. I'm not running it up to 90+ with them in the car. And I always race outside of town well away from traffic and residential areas

Very improper 383 sbc are very common. Actually, fast 383's are rare a.f. They're kinda like 347 sbf's, but not as bad.
