I love those cars despite being a basturd to work on. For while you could not get those to run in the 11s 10s due to the injector sizes available. Bottom ends are pretty stout and I have seen bolt on ones runs mid 12s and trap 116 which is pretty good for that time period car.

Had to pull the Damm motor out to change a turbo lol

Put a timing chain in one...gulp same thing :(

They always had a ton of potential just a pain to work on and most of em got wrecked or riced out so they became pretty rare.

I'm surprised it was that close really. I laid gape on one of those with mild bolt ons. That bmw shoulda never really pulled ya either unless it's faster than i think it is.

It do t take much to get the BMWs to run low 11s with bolt ons

HioSSilver 04-17-2019 09:04 PM

Yea it does. Now it don't take to much to get them to bottom 12s/high 11s.

I just ran a 335i last night out of the blue driving home. it was a short race from like 80-120mph with me taking the hit when we were side by side and each time I would pull a half car and it'd stop there and his nose would be by my rear tire in my blindspot and I couldn't tell if he was creeping up to me or not til I let off. my times in my sig so I dunno if it was tuned or stock (hopefully tuned ) but his exhaust was really quiet (had my cutout closed). ran again at the same speed and same results (had my cutout opened).

yea that white bimmer was full bolt on with an ethanol tune. they make close to 500 with that setup. Whereas the black z is making 420whp and the white one is upper 300's im guessing.

Not really they just need bolt ons and the fuel system addressed.

My opinion is pretty much the same. My 93 was my first experience with working on a nissan, I hated it. My opinion didn't change on the altima, sentra, maxima, 350z, or the frontier. I thoroughly fucking hate working on anything nissan, and pretty much every other mechanic I know has the same opinion.

NOMIEZVR4 04-22-2019 11:13 AM

90's nissan cars were a PITA to work on. But those maxima and altima's ran forever though..motor and trans were solid on em.

HioSSilver 04-22-2019 11:24 AM

I was smart enough not to buy a Nissan in the first place :D

Mike Morris 04-22-2019 05:32 PM

Nissan quality in last 14 years has gotten bad.

True. First altima I worked on had 295K miles on it, and the timing chain ate through the cover.

They have great seats and handle fantastic. My 300zx would out corner my friends C5 vette, just couldn't match it in straight line speed.

Boost controller, down pipe, test pipe,1 stage colder plugs, dual intakes and big cat back would have changed that...

Not really and they cost 5x + to mod for mediocre results.
