Finally hit the track

Good runs. Everyone knows coyotes are fast with boost, but how come you never ran your car at the track n/a? Your car was rolling out pretty good n/a and it would've been nice to see your times.

If you live in SW Miami, going to the track is an ordeal. Even the rental which started relatively early (4pm) took about 2 hours to get there. When it’s test n tune you better leave the house with a 3hr window. Track always packed on those days. A lot of times it’s more of a headache to go to the track down here than it is a good time.

Oh and did I mention that after all that, track normally opens at 6 and by 10 they shut it down due to “attendance” even though you paid til midnight and there’s 70 cars racing?

I did not buy into the whole “you need to lock the IRS down to get it to 60ft” and I’m glad I didn’t. Does a 2 small pieces from BMR, cradle lockout and vertical links. I’ve seen people go to the track and wheelhop with blower and auto, spend 1000-1500 in these suspension websites and go back and end up no better than they were before.

I am not sure why you feel this way. It all comes down to how a car shifts its weight backward when it accelerates. That weight needs to transfer to the rear tires for traction but it takes time to travel through the springs and shocks. On a powerful car, that time delay shows up as lost traction. The way to speed up the process is to increase the anti-squat geometry. We are talking front engine cars not mid or rear engine where IRS shines. A torque arm set up on a 4th gen is good for both power-down and cornering because it allows for a relatively high anti-squat value without compromising other geometry. It’s also very tolerant of rear ride-height changes. IRS is heavier as well.

Because those reasons you posted is mostly bs. It's not so much about weight transfer as it is control. And irs simply has more control. It's also not reliant on doing anything to control the sra axle wrap from the drive shaft trying to turn the rear end into a prop and affect the tire. The diff is mounted solid to the chassis. There is no axle housing flex/distortion either. Each tire is independently controlled vs a sra also. The irs unsprung weight is lighter.....which means it can react quicker adding to traction.
The minor weight penalty is in the back of the car......aiding rear bias and traction.
Yes 3 links(tq arm) are no doubt the most versatile of sra suspension and can work very well. But it's not as good as irs. That why there are no sra cars anymore and we're seeing the best 60's ever by stock suspended cars.

Would it be... weight transfer?
