Nah they don't go in circles, late at night on the weekends, when you have nothing to do you don't like, turn on the TV for like 30 minutes? I hardly ever watch TV but I catch a few. Ever watch Formula 1 racing? Thats on of my fav!

Ok, sorry, I have been a little stiff lately. I'll try to be more open minded. Well I didn't rev match it when I downshifted that time, I just wanted to see what it would do if I just down shifted ya know? Yeah you're right, maybe next time I go out I'll do the rev matching thing into first and try it out, I normally don't do that unless I am racing though, otherwise I stick to low RPMS and just kinda roll everywhere.

Haha yah I gotch ya. I have watched it for a few minutes here and there, but I can't stand em for more then 15-20 mins or so ... just the same **** over and over. And yes, formula one is cool ... the pit stops are really the only thing I watch the races for ... still amazes me how fast they do that.

low 40 mph for the M6 in your car, and a little more spaced out for the MN12 gearing in the T-56 for Z06's

Here's the highest speeds I would down shift my lid/cutout car(always rev match when down shifting!!!!!)

1st--40
2nd--60 maybe to 65

I gaurantee you will pull a similarly hp'ed car that starts in 2nd from 40 and 3rd from 60.

Just be ready to shift because it's gonna come quick.

Later,
Dave

You go back to first? Consider your *** owned then...wasted shift, no rpm left in first at that mph. I'm multiple cars in front of you as your grabbing second.

yeah, probably not at 40..... at 30 though... although, why downshift and not just ride first and punch it from 30.... I mean, dont downshift with your foot buried.... downshift before you start the race, and then just punch the throttle.... I guess this can not always be practical....

I like punctuation....

You would be wasting at least a second to a second and a half with that down shift. That is just that much more someone is pulling on you.
If you have ever seen a in-car camera in a race car, they never go to first gear for anything accept taking off from the pit box.

As for your 30mph downshift ... if you actually rev-match it correctly, it will not be hard on your car .... that is the whole purpose of rev-matching. If you do it incorrectly, or do not do it at all, then it will be difficult.

And honestly no, I hardly ever watch road racing on TV ... I have better things to do with my life then watch a bunch of cars go in circles for a few hours.
.

Hey you know what, I tried the rev matching into first, you're right, its smoother but I still don't like running such high RPMs in first unless I am going from the dig. Downshfiting into first I find pointless, if you are going to start that slow might as well do it from a stop, plus if you're on the highway, you can't got hat slow unless you're in Montgomery Alabama on 331!

Just because your OD says 170 doesn't mean it will go that fast or can't get past it, I'm sure if I do enough to my car, I can be WELL past my OD... Nice copmuter chip here, some other things there, lingenfelter blower here, some more things there... hehehhe

Nope!! At the time, three of my friends had f-bodies, all with the same mods. My best friend had an 01 he bought 6 months after me, and our cars were exactly equal.

We tried different shift points and mph. Who ever started in the lower gear at 40 and 60 won every time. It doesn't take that long to shift, and if you don't spin it is worth at least 1 car length.

As far as being owned, you don't have enough unless your over your 600hp mark.

Later,
Dave
