I know a guy that has a GN with about 5 grand into it and he runs low 11 on nitto's. I'd probly go GN frist and supra last.

Umm...yeah. T-78 turbo kit with upgrades? That's not happening for under $6k.

Also, why is everyone choosing the GN when they're not even available in manual? Never understood the fun in street racing when you just punch and steer. I'd go with the 03. Maybe heavy, but Kenney Belle the beast with suspension and DR's and it's a wrap.

Auto is better for a turbo car...but yes manual is fun. Punching and steering w/ a crap load of horsepower is fun w/ either IMHO.

I disagree. The reason people think that is b/c boost drops when you shift manually. The cure: powershifting. Leaving the throttle planted during shifts eliminates the problem of having to wait for the turbo to spool up again.

Exactly what he said. You would be able to run with a LOT of fast cars.

The problem is it would be over budget with the above turbo.

Pardon me if I am mistaken, and I probably am, but isn't the Cobra the only one of these options with forged internals? I realize that with 6k you could replace the internals in the others, but the 03/04's are already built for whatever you throw at em. I would think you could be @ 700hp+ easy for 6K, and still have cheese left over to replace the IRS and chop some weight off that pig.

I think this thread is pretty useless since #1 it's in street racing, and #2 it doesn't take into account the price of the vehicle to begin with.

I mean, if I had 6K to throw at any car? Gee...probably a Bugatti Veyron. Starts at 1000hp. Or a Tommy Kaira ZZII. 550hp, AWD, and 2000lbs. Plus it's the skyline engine, so 6K in that engine would net you a ton of hp. Ahh screw it, I'll just take an F22 Raptor.

I just wanted to see how many people on a ls1 website would choose an ls1 over a few other great powerplants with a budget for modding. Its pretty obvious that people still know old school GNs can kick *** when setup right w/o busting the bank. A 03 cobra, 87 GN, and a TT supra can all get pretty close to 700hp on that budget. I wish somebody that can do that, all motor, w/ a ls1.

Maybe we should get some kind of list going. I'd like to see some really fast all motor ls1's done on a budget of 5 to 6k. Although I'd be more interested in track times than dyno numbers, a list of cars like this and their mods could probably help a lot of new users on some of the "what would you do with $__" threads.

Im ready for a LS7 to come out and see what people can do with it. I think in a couple more years big bore H/C gen III small blocks will be sneaking up on 700hp all motor. Its just a matter of time. I think the gen IV is gona do it first.
