The $6k throw down...
If you had to build the ultimate street racing machine with a $6k budget. What car out of these would you choose and what mods would you go with(all stock).
1. 87 Grand national
2. 405hp Z06
3. 03 Cobra
4. TT supra
5. 02 F-body
Only rules would be no nitrous. You would have a dyno and a tuner at your disposal and there are no labor charges on any work...only cost is parts.
Im always really board and I wonder about these things constantly. I think I would go w/ the GN.
~3k on a built Stage II 4.1 longblock(used)
~1k on a TE-63 (used)
~1.5k on a built 2004r (used)
the rest on injectors, slicks, race gas...
Turn the boost up to 30 and you got a low 10 second street car maybe 9s.

I'd probably pick the cobra.
GN hand down. Screw a Stage II block for that budget. 60.1 ceramic ball-bearing turbo, PTE front mount IC, 50# Delphi Inj, TRW forged pistons, Billet main and rear caps, Stage 1 heads, and a few "goodies"that are cheap/free depending on if you have a die grinder in the garage or not. Team that up with lower LCA's, an air-bag in the coil spring and a 500.00 convertor, and you will almost NEVER lose on the street. I know I've left out a few odds and ends, but it will still fall under budget.
Wish I hadn't sold mine............

GN, hands down... As I think NOSjohn puts it, the "grandpa mobile" is a sleeper... If the cobra was lighter, then maybe... If I was looking for something for street racing, I would prolly go with the f-body before the Z06 because, who wants to race against a corvette? Not too many people... This thread definitely does need to be in the lounge. It is about future street racing, but has no actuall street racing story in it...
Oh, and NOSjohn, I know I wouldn't be able to afford one, but how much you looking for for your "cheapest" grand daddy buick?

good from a roll, good from astop, good in the turns, and good gas mileage
