~3500lbs and 500hp... according to the stats.. 13.60s @ 115.00 mph

AWD eating up some of the power, and that curb weight is on par with a stock Fbody. I would be interested to know what your car does for traps. If it was a bad driver/worn out VT, I could see it..otherwise It would take you a lil more power to pull one. There is another stats page with 13.30 @ 115mph as well.

I'm going to have to say it was a combination of all of the above. We see a pretty much equal weight car, with a 100 more hp .... but is probably pretty well beaten and worn out by now (it is an early 90's) ... is definately geared for the top end (I think those things topped out a tit over 200mph if I remember right) ... and maybe even a below average driver. All of these taking effect, I don't see this as being a BS story .... (I'm sure those mag drivers sucked as well, only being able to get a 3500lb 500hp AWD car to run mid 13's.

Good kill!
Here's another of his BS posts from the WS6 vs a Bike thread.

I think you touched on something. The Lambo was made to do in excess of 200 mph from the front headlamp to the rear exhaust tip.

Also, in 1993 the SVT Diablo was the first year for the AWD and when new they advertised 0 to 60 in 4.00 seconds which is still quite good. But then like any 'exotic' the maintenance can be astounding and finding a good mechanic difficult.

I have to beleive this guys Diablo is like an LS1 that has been beat to **** with poor maintenance. Not that a LS1 cannot be made to accelerate quicker in a short run. Actually, IMHO the gearing on the Diablo is made to respond to sppeds in excess of 200 and when you take a LS1 and switch from a 2.73 for a 3.73 you are losing upper end and top speed.

Food for thought from this inexperienced guy (I wanted to join the mag races)

After all who ever said "there is no replacement for displacement" and the Diabl has it.

See.. I am opposite what most of you guys are after... I may go down to 3:23s again..because I want the top end. I know this engine is going to be the best setup for that, but it should be ok with a 6500rpm redline. I love being able to haul *** up top. Though I will get beat by many in stop light races, that doesnt bother me.

I am keeping my 3.23 and changing out the TC and then CAM and head work with LTs to handle the addl flow. With a tune I am interested what kinda 1/4 and 0 to 60 and top speed will be there.

If I was strickly for the track the 3.73 would help me see a better 1/4.

Yet ironically the Diablo has the same displacement as an ls1, 5.7liters.

That's not factory, buddy. It's an S/C system by Platinum Motors... as said in the quote.

I agree that's not factory. That's closer to Saleen or Roush doing a Mustang up.

cool car though.

You know..that leads me to another question..how do you dyno a Diablo?? there is no 1:1 gear ratio????? Wouldnt that give them distorted numbers dynoing with a 1.12:1 ratio??

Yeah, I had a feeling that definately had a big deal to do with it. Probably should've actually read all the posts before I posted that. Oh well.

well if they are in fact AWD, then a chassis dyno is out of the question.....there is a calculation i think but its upper level mechanical engineering/math....flywheel numbers would be the only way i believe..and then you take into account the amount of lost hp through drivetrain

fbody drivetrain loss is 15% manual and 18% automatic

Yep. Keep in mind that the current Murcielago has a 6.2 litre V12 (6192 cc).

The Diablo is bad ***. It is appreciated most in it's time though.

Actually, I'm something even weirder for these parts - literate.

Looks like only one guy read the important part of my post - that the guy in the Lambo didn't even notice me (at 16) furiously banging gears next to him in a clapped out old 4x4. I guess from now on I'll clearly mark jokes and sarcasm.

And as for the bike stories? I'm the first to admit they've kicked my *** off the line, but I'm sorry - I've yet to be owned at triple digits by a bike. Not saying it can't happen, just saying it hasn't happened yet.
