'93 Diablo vs. '02SS
Was driving out of my friend's neighborhood following a yellow '93 Diablo that lives a few houses down from him when the Lambo decided to punch it out onto the main highway I started from first gear about three seconds later I am about three cars behind him. I get to the top of third and unbelievably, i'm catching up to the lambo and I managed to catch the nice tune of the exhaust at full song (it sounded really wicked) and I hit fourth gear to amazingly only be about 1 car behind him. I think had this race been from a first gear roll he might have been out of luck by the time we got going up top. My mods: '02 SS M6, slp lid, true duals, xpipe, pro 50 shifter. I'm sure there will be some **** smacker that won't believe a $19k car can take down a Lambo, but yes he was really racing and yes, I was pulling up to him.
Sorry, but I just simply cannot believe that you could pull a 500hp Diablo from a roll. They trap like ~120mph in stock form. Maybe the guy didn't know how to drive, or something, but he should be pulling away from you with ease.

~3500lbs and 500hp... according to the stats.. 13.60s @ 115.00 mph
AWD eating up some of the power, and that curb weight is on par with a stock Fbody. I would be interested to know what your car does for traps. If it was a bad driver/worn out VT, I could see it..otherwise It would take you a lil more power to pull one. There is another stats page with 13.30 @ 115mph as well.

Those exotics arent as fast as most people think. The whole press thing gets to us. Unless you have actually driven one, we dont really know where the power is. The AWD might get it off the line quick as hell...but in mid gears it might be a slouch as far as we know. And top end gears of course...it seems like it will fly because of the trap speed and top speed of course. Who knows...Im just throwing out some more possibilities.
Lambo never made any S/C'ed cars, and they've never made any S/C systems either. The Alpine Edition is just a special edition model outfitted with a bunch of Alpine's products.
I'm seriously sorry to say this man, but the only thing I can come up with is the Lambo driver can't drive. Don't always be a "mag racer". Mags were getting high 13's for our cars, yet what are we seeing ourselves? Mid-low 13's. Same goes for any car. Honestly, the Diablo is a wicked machine and should have literally walked away from you on the highway. If it's the RWD model, he probably would have had launch issues but then would have pulled hard. The AWD model, the Diablo VT, would have pulled right from the beginning. Awesome kill, that's for sure, but either that car is tired of being beaten on, or the driver just sucks. Again, I really didn't wanna use excuses, but there's no way a bolt-on LS1 would pull on a Diablo like that on the highway without there being somethin' wrong with hte Diablo, whether it be worn engine, engine probs, or driver. In this case I'm assuming driver.

I totally owned a Countach in an 81 Suburban with a 4 speed. And that was with a stock 350. Those exotics aren't all that. I think they only way he would have won would have been if he had cared enough to actually floor it.
Good kill!

Good kill!
horsepower is for advertisement, the lambo ratings are at the flywheel im guessing, if so then depending upon gears and AWD theres no telling what its actually putting to the ground im thinking anywhere from 18-20% drivetrain loss (given that the theory is right it would only have 400-420 hp)...also hp and torque doesnt necessarily mean that it has that much power through the full band of power, it might peak that high but fall off quite a bit in several areas through the band, another thing..the hp and torque ratings are purely for advertisement as well, im sure if you dynoed a lambo it wouldnt do near as much as what it says given humidity, altitude, temperature, octane etc.....ive seen automatic cars w/ the proper drivetrain material, suspension etc...outrun manual cars w/ 50 more hp. ONLY A THEORY SO IF YOU HAVE A DIFFERING OPINION, STATE IT W/ OUT BASHING ME PLEASE.
good job with racing a lambo....commend you for being one of the ones going after the big dog, instead of weaker cars

I was just tossing those out for anyone that feels like doing the math.. the gear ratios on the fbody are much steeper (acceleration below 100 is probably better) of course once the Diablo is in its upper powerband and using its gears to the fullest... top end.. is insane.
