I was commin home from along day at work when I was crusin doin 70 on 101...I see this SL600 pull up next to me and he slides over 2 lanes then hits it...I drop into 4th and chase him down...I open the cut-out
and its on...Rollin at about 80 we both hit it...I pulled on him pretty good...I shut down at about 125...He comes up and we start off a little slower this time...I downshift into 3rd and he gets the jump, He gets 1/2 a car on me by the time i react...After that I walked him pretty good to about 125 again...It looked like about 3-4 cars(my advantage) when we both shut down...
I roll down my window and give him the thumbs up and he does the same...
All in all it was a good night...First race in awhile for me...LOL...Seems like no one wants to play anymore...

I dont know how they really perform, but here are the specs on the Twin turbo 5.5L 36-valve V-12 engine, 493 hp @ 5,000 rpm and 590 lb-ft @ 1,800 - 3,500 rpm. According to Car and Driver that equals to a 3.6 0-60, and an 11.9 quarter mile. Now that is faster than the 911 GT2, GT3, and newest Viper. With numbers like that I would have to call
on that kill buddy. I dont know what your mods are running because your sig is blank, so it is posible and I am not saying you didnt beat him......let us know your what you have done.??????
I saw one about 3 weeks ago, and I couldnt entice a race from the guy. I guess when you spend $130K on a car, you dont want to really see what it can do. hahah he was ***** because he would have spanked me.

People who buy those cars, have more money than they know what to do with. It disgusts me. Although I say that now, if I were in their shoes I might do the same. hahah, yeah right I would put that money into a crazy *** streetable ls1 camaro.

It was a silver merc SL600...From what i here these cars have a lot of torque and power, but at the same time they weigh over 4000 pounds...I put my car on the scale the other day with me in it and it was 3410...
Maybe the guy couldnt drive i dunno...But these silicon valley guys do have a lot of money
...
I also raced my buddys dad's new convert 911 twin turbo and took him out as well...
My current mods are:
QTP 1 7/8 headers with a hooker catback
cutout
3.73's
upgraded valvetrain
The hotcam(which everyone seems to hate)
ASP underdrive pulley
Typical induction stuff
Every suspension mod
My last dyno run was untuned at 381...Since then I have upgraded the headers and exhaust from hooker 1 3/4 and flowmaster exhaust to current mods listed above...

^ I wasn't aware of that either. I find it strange they put a 5.5L into the SL600 (600 designates a 6L engine, as the SL500 is a 5L V8, and the AMG SL55 is a 5.5L V8). On top of that, even though AMG usually S/C's rather than turbo's their cars, I'm surprised Mercedes went all out on the SL600 rather than leaving the boost to AMG for an SL65 model or something.
Sorry for doubtin' you frey. I'm a supercar guru, and usually know my stuff. I hadn't seen the stats on the '04 SL600 yet, so that's why those unusual-for-factory-Mercedes stats caught me offguard.

There ya have it. If it isn't an AMG or 600, it just isn't that fast. I have to say beating a new 911 Turbo Cab does sound a little fishy.... Good kill on the 500.
