Intake and exhaust? I hope that doesn't mean LT's cuz then the Goat should easily be in the 12's.

Good kill though!

EASILY in the 12's?

Maybe with a seasoned driver, but the average owner isn't seeing 12's without major mods,
probably due to the skinny tires/IRS/3725+ lb weight of the GTO.

There's an owner with 381rwhp & 350rwtq
(SLP Heads & Cam Package/SLP MAF/SLP 160 T-stat/HP Tuners Tune/JBA shorties/RT Cat Pipes/MPD Airbox/Taylor 10.4 wires),
and his best so far is 13.28@109.38 w/2.2 60'.

Other owners with "intake & exhaust" are usually in the mid-13's...

2.2 60 footer is not good at all dude........and that guy has shorties! And he has a H/C and is only putting down 350 lbs of torque and only 380 horsepower!?! What are those? 01 LS6 cam? Those numbers do not add up at all.

Get a normal 60 footer (1.8 or something) and some real horsepower numbers and that looks like it is easy in the 12s

I'm well-aware that a 2.2 60' is bad, and I'm not arguing that the above scenario I posted shouldn't be a high 12-second car,
just that it isn't.

Most GTO's don't have close to the above mods though,
so why would an "intake & exhaust" (which I translate to mean Cold-Air kit/Cat-Back/Mid-Pipe) car hit high 12's???

Nice kill

The weight of the GTO is working against it too much. The 00' F-Body LS1 is just quicker even though it has less HP.

Maybe the competition will get tougher for 2005...

And I wonder if the IRS has an negatives?

Without careful driving, it seems to hippity-hop pretty bad just like the IRS Cobras do.

Buddy you're dreaming if you think you will "kill" a 05 GTO with a stock F-body. Nice kill, but your friend doesnt know how to drive most likely.

I have run a 13.058@106 along with other multiple 13 flat runs with LT's, intake, and drag radials. I also know it is capable of 12's if I could pull off better than a 1.9 60 foot. These cars are incredibly difficult to launch with the IRS, so they are at a lot more than a disadvantage to a F-body along with it's weight.

Either way nice story, but don't go around thinking you will be as lucky to run ones with bad drivers all the time. If you were truely stock, and he had intake and exhaust there is no excuse other than bad driving by the GTO owner to explain it. At best you should have been neck and neck in a driver's race. One last thing.... beating a car by a nose or a car length doesn't constitute as a "kill."

I ran a;

13.7 stock
13.4 Speed Inc CAI

and since I've done full exhaust consisting of Stainless Works Long Tube Headers, RT Cats, and an SLP Loudmouth as well as being tuned by Speed. Just last Saturday, we had a dyno day at Speed and I bested my tuned dyno numbers by 3 hp and 12lbs-ft of torque (333rwhp & 342lbs-ft of torque). I have not had the car back to the track since, as I started a new job and it's hard to tell them I need off to go drag race. But either way, I'd like to think it'll run extremely low 13's or high 12's.

I'd like to see you "Kill" me!

The IRS, the weight, and bad driving are what killed the GTO in a race. The car doing 109mph shows this thing is making power, but the 2.2 60ft is way bad. For every tenth off of the sixty foot you can usually expect 2-3 tenths off of your quarter. I just ran my car for the first time (my first with a manual) and out of three passes, I ran a 13.80 ET with a 2.2 60ft at 103.8mph . That is pretty bad. I would run 13.50 ET with a 2.01 60ft at 101mph in my peg legged automatic 86 Monte SS. If the car runs good 60ft becomes all important to ET's. Now if I can just figure out how to shift my car!

the slp car is me. newer times are in the sig and the 60' this time was a 2.1. Still learning the car and trying to figure it out. I just switched over to LT"s and 3.91 gears. I have to redyno and see where she is at and then get back to the track. Feels a ton faster with the LT"s and the gears though.
