'04 Z06 vs sl55 AMG

Default '04 Z06 vs sl55 AMG

This must have been the 100 or so sl55 I have seen so far in SoCal. Well, friday night I got a chance to run one

Crept up to his window, gave him the nod, shifted to 2nd and watied to hear his turbos spool

As soon as he jumped forward, I nailed it, 3rd comes up quick in the Z06 and by end of 3rd I had a car length on him and gaining but I decided to shut it down.

AWESOME ******* CARS, sl55 is a beauty, the dude was cool gave me thumbs up and I retured with "sweet ******* car"


on a related incident, on saturday night beat a ******* civic with stickers and your typical fart canon with my friend's FORD EXPEDITION it was ******* hilarious hearing his puny 1.6L engine getting dwarfed by a 5.4L v8. The little *** never looked up again as I said "those stickers dont really help, do they?"

I raced one of those off a light when I had just a few mods done on the Evo. Even until 120 then he started pulling slowly away. Fast as hell up top.

I wish I had the chance to run him up top... but traffic didn't allow us.
I sure hope to be able to run them on freeway.

When u ran him from the light, how well do they hook up for traction?

I always thought they had a blower not turbos? I thought the SL600 or something was twin turbo.

Good kill.

And your evo must be running very well, since those SL55's trap at like 115. Aren't they just E55 just lighter?

they have a supercharger not a turbo

Maybe his T/A had too many miles, or he got bored with it, or had to drive in the snow, he needed four doors? The T/A died?

Those are some quick reasons I guess, non of which say it wasn't a downgrade though

Good death. I raced a SL55 AMG on the highway, needless to say, it wasnt preety at all. He was a blur in the distance within seconds.

Am I missing something here? I raced one of these. I was in 4th gear WOT(130mph) when one passed me, waving bye bye. Maybe it was a different model year?

They get off the light very well, 5 speed auto, all he had to do was floor it 0-6- 4.29 secs. Well I can launch the hell out of my car and got a little scared when I still saw him right next to me. It took all my driving skill to stay with him until 120 then he started pulling. That was when I only had 296 to the wheels and 257 tq. Barely had any tuning done. It would be a fifferent story now. Being retuned on 9/8 should be around 365 awhp/345 awtq. on pump gas. All so tuning on race fuel, should be good for around 400 awhp/375 awtq. We wil see. This is all on stock turbo. As far as getting an Evo, I needed something with 4 doors and better bad weather traction, this was a good compromise. I do miss my LS1 though, very different cars, love them both.

By the way they trap more in the 110-112 range, they run High 12's, seen times of 12.7-13.1. The e55 is faster it is the one that traps 117 and runs like 12.4's. I believe it is lighter as it is not a convertible.

What you talking about willis? I killed the sl55

I was in the Z06 not Z28

I teel you what the sl55 you should pull with the Zo6, not insanely, but you should pull. E55 you would have your hands full, they are bad ***** f*ckers. Insane topend. I heard they are coming out with an SL65 AMG which will be you guessed it twin turbo v12. Should be low 12's.
