Default Mach 1 vs STi

Mach 1 - longtubes/hpipe/cai/intake spacer

STi - Full Turboback Exhaust

I ran a real good friend in his STi last night, about 5 runs. First run 50 punch, had it in 3rd at first, and realized what I was doing, by the time I put it back down to 2nd, I had honked twice already, and the lunge made him think I went early, so he jumped early with about half a car head start. I pulled him in and put about a car on him by 110. 2nd run 60 punch, I just left it in 3rd, pulled about a car and a half by 115 or so. 3rd run, he wasnt ready, I jumped him hard on the 3rd honk, 3 cars or so by 90. 4th and 5th run were the best runs, he hung real close from a 60 punch until around 90 and then I pulled away, and from a 40 punch my low end tq just took over. Really fun runs!!

Good kill. Why no dead stop runs?

We were on our way home and on the highway, it was just too convinient for the rolls. From a stop I woulda been in trouble I am sure, he launches that **** HARD.

I dont know that he will "smoke" me, but I will have to play catch up, and catch him probably just after the 1/4 mark. I would say its a good kill for any decent car, not just a "stang". This STi has eaten plenty of stock/lightly modded LS1's.

P.S. how is your pathetic cammed LS1 running?? Still trapping 110 ??

a STI from a dead stop woulda been tough for most street tire cars, it would leave most of us playing catch up. nice kills, i've raced a STI twice, same mods as the one you raced, once from a stop, i didn't catch back up until 115mph (b4 headers and true duals) next time from a 10mph roll, (i had my set up how it is now) and for some reason ever since that last run, he hasn't asked to run again seeing how a put 4 cars on him just to 105

nice, i would have expected you to pull harder, especially from a roll. I didnt know an exhaust did that much for those STI's

Well its a full turbo back exhaust, so he builds boost faster, and holds it longer. We think he is trapping around 107, and I should be around 109-110.

Good kill man I haven't had the chance to run one of those yet in my Mach but I'm waiting.. What gears do you have in there??? I'm about to install some 4.30's in mine.. I had 4.10's and didn't thing those where enough so I'm going higher.. I ran mid 12's at 108+ with the 4.10's and I'm hoping to run 12.40's-12.30's at 110 with the 4.30's...

Top end on the STI's are absolute ****. They drop off at like 100mph. If you raced him from a dead stop, and he knows how to launch, he would probably jump on you about 3-4 cars, i've seen it happen many times... AWD isn't something to mess with in a light to light race if you're on street tires, but from a roll, nothin special at all. Anyway... Nice kill

STi's top end are not that bad at all. Have you raced one? Would you know? He has beaten a handful of LS1's up to around 125-130, so I guess that means the LS1 top end is **** too ?

Dan I am running stock gears.

LOL yes as a matter of fact i have raced 3 STI's and 2 Evo's from a roll and didn't lose to any of them (raced to about 130) with just the mods i have listed. It's known that all the WRX's on up to the STI don't have good top end, and i've witnessed it for myself. Dont believe me still? Go hit up the WRX forums....the owners admit it themselves. My buddy owns one and i have driven it. Incredible out of the hole acceleration and great handling, but from a roll it kind of failed to impress me...

I have to agree top end they really suck ***. I live in Chicago I see them all the time!! From a dead stop they are they deadliest cars out there along with the EVO, GSX and Carrera. No matter what rear wheel drive car you are just plainly going to have to play catch up. Once you hit around 90 to 100 miles an hour you can see your creating a huge 3 to 6 car length lead. It has happened to me and all the LS1 buddies I have. Thats just my experience.
From a roll you should be able to spank them around easily!!
