It makes ALL the difference. This is why I HATE Motor Trend. They ran a 13.7 @ 103 in the GTO that they tested if I am not mistaken. Now 103 vs 99. Yeah that really outperforms the GTO. And saying that the stick will be close to the SVT Mustang The 03-04 Cobras trap at 108-111 bone stock. I have saw the 05 GT with a Manual 5-speed at the track and I have saw plenty of Cobras. They are at 0.9 seconds faster in the quarter. Those trolls are so clueless at MT

I agree, but it was 99.9mph, lol. The track has always been different. I try to do a fair comparison by picking magazine versus magazine and track versus the track. To give you an idea, the hemi truck they said ran 15.1 sc, sb with 20s and 3.92 gears. But at the track, I've seen them run 14.6s-14.7s all night long. At least here in maryland.
Hey, I'm not defending them, I have a 97 formula with 2.73s, a4 and it ran a 13.6 with just a h3 programmer and a flowmaster muffler and street 16" tires.
The magazine posted a 3.31 rear (typical ford rear) only. I was impressed since it was only an automatic too. I guess we will have to wait to see one at the track here. I hit the track regularly and hopefully I can talk to one of the owners. But these cars are new, the cobra has been out for two years so people have the launching down. I think 9 tenths will be shortened once they get down the feel. Besides 9 tenths for 10k more. It's really not bad and it's about time that ford got on the right track. I hope chevy does too soon. Because price/performance is where the buyers are at. Think about it, that's why the rice sells. It's cheap performance per dollar. Why you think the srt-4 sells so well. Now with 230hp and only 2500 pounds at 20k, its a good/price/performance ratio.

Update on latest C&D test of a 5 speed manual 05 GT.

From what I've been hearing from many guys who have seen the new 05 Gts at the track they have yet to break into the 13s. My brother saw two at the Ford Nationals when they were here and they were running 14.50s. I have a video (somewhere on the comp) of two new Gts running one right after the other. Both of those didn't even come close to 13s. The Gto in the first race did against the GT and I believe the 350z in the second race only pulled a 14.50.
My question is how fast are those Hemi 300c and the Magnum RT? Anyone at the track seen them at the tracks yet?

Even if they are hitting stock LT1 times, BFD. Ford's "Muscle Car for the new century, the first all new Mustang in 26 years" is just holding even with 8 yr old GMs. And like the man said, how many people who drag Lt1s are stock?
I drag mine stock...for now
First time at the track I lined up with a brand new 04 gt 5 speed intake and exhaust. i went 13.9 @ 102 with a terrible 60' (2.4 i think) and a 150+ lb passenger in the car. He went 15.1. (i know thats not typical but still)
Basically Ford just can't hang with the general as far as naturally aspirated regular production v8s.
