Default My '04 C5 vs Friend's '01 Z06

Last night me and my friend wanted to run our cars over a long bridge that is around here. We decided to go from a 30 mph roll all three times we ran. I am really suprised at how my car fared against him, in the first race we both hit it in first and stayed dead even, I shifted into second and still the same, even. This is what suprised me, as soon as I shifted into third I started pulling on him slightly, and kept that slight edge all the way through the top of, fourth when we decided to let off. Second race was a 30 mph roll again, honked three times and hammered it. He punched the gas a wee bit before I did, and kept that lead until we shut it down at the top of 4th. Third race we finally are able to time it perfectly and we're off. This time we were even through first and second, and about halfway through third he started pulling a little bit, and kept pulling ever so slightly until the top of 4th.

I am really happily suprised at how my car ran, I thought he was going to blow me completely out of the water. All I have done to my car is Zip-Tie mod and dealer-installed Corsa exhaust. Anyone have any idea why I was able to stick with him? He said on the first race he shifted conservatively, but on the third one he went all out.

Well if I read it correctly you have an 04 c5 which has 350hp and the zo6 intake and your friend has the 385hp version of the z06 which if I remember correctly did something in the midst of 12.6s and a c5 with a 6speed should be about 13.0s and then an exhaust and you could have a 12.8s which is close to the 12.6. Now I will stop rambling and say you are a better driver then your friend and did really good against him nice job. You from N.Y.?

My 99 C5 dyno'd 320rwhp 331rwtq, and that was with the factory air box lid ON and stock mufflers. Right after me an 01 Z06 Stock dyno'd 338rwhp So with an LS6 intake (like you already have) zip tie mod and catback, I'm sure It'd be close if I was a little better driver and he was a little heavier than me (the driver not the car).

Good kill.

z06s also have a little closer gears (m12 trans). Was he revving it to 6500 or shifting at 6000? That would make sense to me, him shifting at 6K - the z06 makes all the extra power way up in the revs.

Yeah, that's what I figured aswell. He says he doesn't like to rev it all the way to 6500, for some reason that I forget. :\ Ah well, at least I can bask in my glory hehehe

you might want to save money on a tune and wait until you get more mods..

Good idea, guess I should save up for some more bolt ons(headers, cats, etc.) and then get a tune.
