How to beat a C5

How to beat a C5 A friend of mine has a C5 2004 (stick) with a corsa catback. I have an auto (i know, autos suck) 97 ws6 with only flow (i know, flows suck to, i didnt put them on) catback and a k/n. What mods (cheap in nature) could i get to beat him? Thanks,

a nice set of long-tube headers and a cut-out work pretty well, i was impressed. i dont know about beating him with just that though. but this isnt the place for this type of discussion , try the LT1-LT4 section

well, headers would set u back close to $700 depending on what kind of headers and y-pipe u get (labor for this is $$$ too). lt1's apparently take to the bottle very well, a nice 100 shot would do the trick.

Short of a quick shot of nitrous I dount there is anything you can do to beat him...
If it were a drag race you could do gears and a converter and nail him off the line if he can't hook well. He'll blow by you eventually.
My auto C5 with just exhaust, gutted cats, air filter went 12.65@111mph on a 1.91 60'. Sticks can trap about that pretty easy with less mods. You probably barely trap 99mph.

And why do auto's suck? Only in ricer world where auto trannies are weaker than their lame excuses for losing do auto's "suck"... Here in America, we have strong and beefy automatic transmissions, that are better suited for drag racing than a manual car. You are basically going to need a full bolt on car to hang with him.

My manual trans C5 with only an air filter was a full second faster than my friends manual trans 97 WS6 on the same track, same day. He also had full bolt-ons.

Rig up a little spray. Like 100hp shot should get him. Long tubes will help but your not gonna see enough gain to pull a c5 w/6-speed. Even if by some chance you get a good lead on him the mid range in c5's are like no other they pull forever. Just do a little spray and you'll surely suprise him.
