that's funny, seing as how i don't own a neon...or an srt4...or a 4cyl anything.........but i'll get a regular 2.4l neon and race you if you cut your engine in half and run me on 4cyls too.........that would only be fair, right?

and you are right:turbos, blowers, big cubes, nitrous, ect. don't make you cool....
but they do make you faster.......

btw, he wasn't under the car because anything broke, just unhooking the exhaust.....and if you've never broken anything at the track, you don't race very hard

 

all this talk about everyone else, what do you drive jdustu? there are a couple of guys around here that have srt's and they drive around sneezing at everything that has four wheels. they tend to be like mustang drivers. as far as cheap, srt's are!!! period. nuff said. the interiors are cheap and i have a friend who went from a gm dealership as a tech to a dodge cause he said he wanted to make for damn sure he had a good paycheck each week and that as long as there were dodge vehicles on the road he would have a job. and as far as gm's breaking down, my car has 140,000 miles on it and has only had clutch and water pump replaced due to failure. NO MAJOR PROBLEMS with it and with that many miles still runs 12.80's without flipping that little switch in the glove box. and yes there will always be someone faster than me but it wont be in an srt-4.

why does it matter what i drive? i like to look at everything objectively, but if you must know, i've got a 1970 electra that runs like a champ, a 1994 dakota that's been pretty much totaled 3 times and just won't die, a 99' 300m that my wife drives, and a 1998 z28. i've had a 1994 z28, that i loved, and i highlighted a few of the many problems i had with that earlier in this thread......not too many people that push their fbodys are still on stock rears, trannys, ect., not too mention the lovely plastic interiors they sport. I'm not saying that dodges are indestructable, i AM saying that the you'll have the same problems in a fast neon as you will in a fast camaro......i'm just playing devil's advocate, cuz the srt-4 is a cool little car and a blast to drive....and fyi,that pic at the track was taken right before i smoked it in my z

 

That doesn't even make any sense....you guys are both in the 12's right? there are more than a few neons faster than you then already......

Well, i would have to say i was not exspecting that i didnt mean to start a bunch of fighting or anything. I was just kinda up set about the little neon beat me, and no he did not pull me out of the start i had him pretty good until my cars a$$ started to ripp to to the right, i guess i need to learn how to feather the throttle, maby some tires will help, we'll see!!!!

 

Got to roll out on radials in our cars, and run down FWD or AWD cars.

I've seen a bonestock SRT Neon go 13.8 with a very good driver.

Heck my daily driver 05 TL M6 is supposedly good for 14.2@98mph.

SRT-4's are ugly, slow, pieces of crap and after all.... they are still just a neon.

first off youre bench racing, numbers on an internet forum dont mean a whole lot. the only way to tell for real is on a track, NOT on a public road as that would be ILLEGAL. Second off all i run high 12's *without* the 125 shot bottle. I admit openly that my car isnt nearly the fastest around, but a neon, i'm hard headed. you'd have to prove it to me.

I have owned both (sold the srt4 but sill have two lt1's). They are very very quick cars if you drive them right, I never lost to a mustang lightly modded or a basically stock LT1. If the guy knows how to drive the car and can powershift it will be close. On street tires it ran the same times as my WS6 but trapped higher.

Oh yea forgot to add that my SRT4 bone stock put down 227 h.p. and 240 trq. With a little spray on the Intercooler since it was over 100degrees out it put down 260h.p. and 301 trq with no other mods. So with this cool weather it really helps those cars

Because I am a fan of any car that is fast. That sadly can't be said about some of the members on here.

As far as proof that a neon is faster than you.... the proof just might be in my signature. Would you like a scan of the timeslips or a video?

I hate to admit it but we don't have 1/4mile tracks in this state. We have 1000 footers. My TA on motor runs 10.4's and on 100shot it runs 9.6's

 

Guys.. I have a 99LS1 with a good slew of mods all I got to say it takes quite a bit less $$ to mod those SRT-4s to go up and beyond LT1s and LS1s I'm afraid to say..
