Just got my shifter and installed it a little while ago. It is different, that's for sure. I have never had an aftermarket shifter before. I'm not completely used to it. It feels a little tigher going into gear than the stock shifter. I talked to MGW a they said it was the first time they had an issue with this shifter. He told me to drive it hard for a few days and call him Wed. to see if it is any better. I went out and beat the **** out of my car and only missed third on the madien run. I hit ever gear after that. I ran 5 or 6 0-110 mph runs power shifting. I think with a little more practice I might be able to hang with you Dan.

Is it really a death when you lose to your own car?

After looking at the time slip you posted, your 1/8 mile times & mph are almost exactly what mine was when I ran a 12.60 @ 113 earlier this year.(same 60ft) SHIFT!
Good luck! Btw, I had a great run with a Cobra (w/ pulley)last week at the track. I ran my best ever (12.0) to his 12.2. It was a good race.

You too Dan Nice driving Brandon, hitting the limiter would explain the trap speed.

12.18 @ 112 mph to my 12.9 @ 107, nice death.

I know you said you were going KB but it sounds like your old SS would be a decent run with a K&N/Full xhaust Cobra on a DR.

Your bone stock right, Id like to see what a K&N/Full xhaust (headers) Cobra on a DR would do against your old SS. That sounds like it would be a great race. Assuming you can drive and launch the Cobra good.

Good luck with the car, both are sharp.

Dan, how much do you think heat soak played a part in my low trap? I had driven 2 hours to get to the track and basically just pulled into the staging lane. What is the best way to cool the car down? Ice the blower or the resevoir or both.

It didn't play a part on a stock cobra. I drove an hour and 15 minutes to the track in 75ish degree weather, ran the car right away, tahn let the car cool down for 3 hours. I than ran the car 4 consecutive times after, and NONE Of the times differed, shifting at exactly the same rpm.

Heat soaking barely effected my car when I had the 276 upper only, than with upper/lower combo I could clearly "feel" a difference, ditched the lower, now I'm back to the upper only and spray.

Your trap speed is explained by the rev limiter.

As too cooling the car down, just throw a bag of ice on top of the blower, but it honestly isn't going to make much of a diff., if any, on a stock cobra unless you are running in the dead of summer.

I agree with pretty much everything said above except putting a bag of ice on the blower. You need to put a towel on the blower then a bag of ice on top of it. The towel will absorb the water. People have had water run down under the coil covers and pool up around their spark plugs.

Once he got started the torque converter busted my *** in the sixty foot. I though he would take me out of the hole but I thought I could either freeze his pull or gain on him farther down the track. NOT! He just kept pulling away. He cut a 12.18 @ 112 mph to my 12.9 @ 107 . It wasn't my best run of the day but it didn't matter. That really sucks having to wait until June or July to be able to beat him. I'm getting a KB blower then. But, he also ordered a set of Patriot LS6 stage II heads the other day. He is threatening to get a high stall too. I might have my hands full then too. Now I just have to be patient. I will be on top again soon.

Ahhh, sibling rivalry.

Luckily I don't have to worry about my bro being faster now because he has a N/A 300ZX. Hopefully he'll get a turbed 300 or a new engine soon.

You should trap 113 or so in the 1/4 with an 88mph 1/8.

Sorry to hear about your suicide. I guess the SS was just pissed off at you! Tell your bro I said "Good Job!"
