Good luck dude, you'll need it racing a Z06 in your near stock "blackbird". Don't know exactly what's done to them, but this is the first time I've heard of one. If he can even remotely drive his car, you will lose. Let us know how it goes though.

 

i was feeling good a bout the race knowing the speed and the power of this blackbird so me and a few of my f-body friends went to the main hangout and ment him there was gonna lock up for the 1k but on hwy20 there was so many cops and there was 1 a cross the street from the local speed shop just watching us but saturday night where race but im gonna take your word on it im strap on a NX KIT and spray his *** he got me so pissd talking **** i told him before we both split saturday 2k if your such a bad *** Z06 blackbird killer hes all like umm sounds great lets see saturday night what happends with all the's cops so he will maybe race for 2k or just the 1k no matter what WITH THE SPRAY ITS ALL IN THE BAG

I'm really disturbed how many people on this board have never heard of a Blackbird before. Actually, it's quite sad. It's a great car, WITH a warranty! 380hp is nothing to scoff at, especially when you're looking at an engineered piece of work, versus some cobbled-together enthusiast job, like we do.

That said, it's no match for a Z06, period. It would take a H/C package and different gears to get close or the quick-and-dirty juice as mentioned before.

Doesn't seem like anything happen here, so it doesn't really matter. But it would be nice if people did research before talking ****. It's bad enough that we're ignorant against non-GM cars, let alone our own bretheren.

 

Not true-unless the Z06 is modified or had a good driver and the driver took it stock into 11's. 405 fwhp and 400 fwtq is powerful none the less, but if you take a full bolt on F-body w/ tires it would hang if not pass it but not by much since the Z06 will reel it in up top. Gears would give the F-body some better odds.

How so-where do you see it so much different then a regular WS6. From my understanding, the Blackbird WS6 has 380 fwhp and 400 fwtq (according the GMMGinc.net) and the only performance modifications are the GMMG catback, and a new Air Lid. That would net similar numbers at the flywheel since LS1's are rated at 350 fwhp and 365 fwtq. There are rumors around or people saying they were informed that Blackbirds also have pulleys and lower temperature T-stat, and ported exhaust manifolds-and I heard once that they have a different Y-pipe. This still, is nothing phenominal compared to the things we do on this site, OK big deal facrtory warranty on exhaust and Lid for how much aren't they around 40-50,000 brand new where as we pay 20-30,000 + if we had the same mods we'd add anywhere between 900 (lid and catback)-1500 (lid, catback, pullies, t-stat) + wheels for about 400-500 each (2,000) + eibach pro-kit for a couple hundred.

That still is does not reach the price, and nets the same power. 380 rwhp/400 rwtq is impressive for a stock internal LS1, however 380 fwhp/400 fwtq is not unsusual at all. Don't get me wrong I would have loved to own one, but I would have felt i couldn't modify it because of how rare it actuallly is.

 

I think someone needs to take his own advice There are plenty of cam only cars running deep into the 11's. Hell, there are some stock internal cars running deep 11's. Last time I went to the track I got lined up with a Stock Z06 with drag radials.....results? Him: 12.16 Me: 11.90. Baby cam, bad tune and converter locking up going into 3rd My mod list ISN'T very extensive. Full weight, cam, full exhaust, converter, tires. I MIGHT have $1500 in the car

Well i actually no the blackbird owner , I seen a the video of the race to my amazement the dam black bird got a fender on the z06!!!..... but you can tell the guy in the z06 was a bad driver and looked like the tires' where pretty much gone.. they ran twice from a dead stop first time z06 pulled good 2nd time t/a got a fender on him !..




i was on my suv when i was up there ill be back in that area in about a month or so , im going to take my z06 & rip some ***!!

 

A blackbird is just a rare car thats all. With just $500 worth of mods an LS1 can get to 380fwhp. Lid+Catback on most LS1= 335 rwhp = more than 380fwhp.

The thing I was saying was instead of bagging on a car you don't even know, find out what it is before shitting on it. Especially, if it's part of your own line. I personally don't own a Blackbird, but I know what they are and have talked with plenty of people that have them and they say they're a lot more than a WS6 with a lid and catback. Besides, if somebody handed me a fast car with a bunch of the bolt-ons I'd do anyway, already mated up and with a full warrenty, I'd take it. Anyone that wouldn't is a fool.

Anyway, you guys can now **** on me some more if it makes you happy, whatever...
