There is a new model an A6 Audi s/w that will out perform a ferrari etc in a 1/4 mile it apparently easily out performs evos, sti,s etc. This is ex factory unmodded.

Nice death but I am sure you could take one just get some more mods

I had a 2004 S4 for 2 weeks a couple of months back and it hauls ***.

With the 6 gears you can pretty much go from any speed and still be in your power band. The only weak point I noticed was the launch which seemed like it took a moment for the power to kick in.

Also, with the Quattro I was taking on ramps and off ramps at 80+ mph and the thing was on rails.

I am sure the V8 can be given extra HP easily with simple mods like exhaust and tuning since it seems pretty toned down. Still, the S4 with thw V8 out of the box is a quick ride. I wonder how the RS4 will do?

Well, granted the price tag on an S4 it damn well should be able to keep up or surpass our cars stock. For that amount of money we could do an AWD conversion and 427 TT and demolish them (with funds leftover to take their girls out to dinner and never call them back again)....

sans price tag... i do like the Audi's though. My friend has an A4 1.8T and it's fun to drive. It handles and drives amazingly well and smooth as butter

You're comparing apple's and oranges. Very different cars. IMO S4's are nicer than C5s and f-body's (i've owned all 3) in terms of comfort, practicality, and build quality but they aren't sports cars.

427TT + AWD mods alone will cost more than a new S4, assuming it could even be done.

I work at VW/Audi corporate and get these cars as test vehicles evry so often and the A4 IS nice but the S4 has a stiffer and better adjusted suspension and they come fully loaded compared to an A4. Just my 2 cents...

I have also seen them for about $40,000 (the 2004 which is my personal favorite).

The new RS4 boasts 420hp from 4.2 ltrs, and an 8500 redline. 100hp per litre !? thats quite impressive for a factory ride.

0-60 times est @ 4.8 sec.

It's supposed to tip the scales around 3630 lbs.

No prices have been posted yet for the RS4 which is schedualed to hit the States in 2006, but people in the know are guesstimating $70k. (Autoweek magazine Mar 7, 2005)

For those kinda bucks my money will stay Stateside, and look for me in a '06 Z06. But then, I really don't need a four door anyways.

A little slow on picking up the sarcasm, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't cost more than 50 grand to build that, assuming it was possible.
