what does a turbo CRX run?
i got some guy running his mouth. says he can cream me and wants to race for 1K bucks. he doesnt know what i run though. what would a turbo crx, with and without nitrous run?
Depends on the motor, if its a B series and a turbo pushin 10-12# its pretty fast for what it is maybe high 13s probally low 14s. how fast is your car? it takes a lot to run with our cars but some of those CRXs can roll

most likely he did a motor swap, probably the gsr engine. plus he said its turboed so hes probably runnin close to 250hp in a 2100lb car. its up to you, i dont know what they run, id say low 13s possibly high 12s.
If you run 11.5s, then you have nothing to worry about.
But just for fun, lets examine the possibilities:
1. He's got a B16A1 with a T3/TO4E turbo setup. At 6lbs of boost, this SHOULD be good for 220-240whp. Now if you do the math, a 2000lbs CRX with 240whp should run a 12.5 to a 12.6 with traction.
Assuming he sprays you with a 50 shot, he "could" be making 290-300whp. This would be good for a possible 11.7-11.8. But thats assuming he ever hooks up, which he probably won't.
2. He's running an eclipse turbo on the stock D15A1 (a D16A8 for the Si). This would be good for around 160-200whp. Doing the math again, you can come up with mid 14s off the bottle, and high 12s with a 50 shot.
3. He's dropped in a JDM ZC motor with a custom turbo setup. Performance would fall somewhere in-between the D15A1 and B16A1 ... so mid to low 13s with 12s being possible on the bottle. However, him having a ZC is very unlikely.
And thats about it... Oh, and in stock form they're capable of 16.5s. <img border="0" alt="[jester]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" />

did some searching of his posts, its a 91 si-r swap. i dont know if theres a turbo or not cause i havent seen him post that there is one stuffed in there.

Personally I think a race for $1000 is crazy regardless, unless you just have money laying around for no reason. You never know what might break or go wrong, and then it doesn't matter if you run 8's and he pushes his car across the line. But anyway, if this helps, my 2100 pound Civic runs mid twelves with a 1.8L DOHC with a built head and 150 shot. This is on a prepped track with slicks. I would imagine if you race from a stop and you DO get traction it won't be much of a race.
A turbo crx depending on the motor will run eaily high 12's even with a single cam motor. A b18b or c at 12 psi will run low 12's. My friend in his 2000 si civic with a bolt on kit running 12psi ran 12.7 at 114 on drag radials. The crx is much lighter and will have a considerably higher trap speed, maybe 120 or so. Be carefull, ask what motor he is running and psi.
Well, Turbo CRXs that are stripped and bangin on the limiter are no match for a '98 Z28 6-speed with a lid and exhaust. That's from a stop or a 20mph roll on.

the race will be at a track. i dunno if i would race for 1K either, thats just what he said. hes got a motor swap and a greddy stage 3 turbo or something of that nature. si-r swap, whatever that is. i dont think hes running nitrous either. i imagine hes running in the 12s at best too. hes running his mouth like a little bitch and im gonna knock it off <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> . apparently he doesnt know what (as i told him) little 346 cui NA cars are capable of <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> too bad fwd cars suck and dont get traction <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> i know they have the potential to et good too. i dont see him beating me without a hefty shot of nitrous though.

SI-R swap is a 1.6L DOHC VTEC.
If the motor is built it could make for a good race depending on what psi he's running, you should pull hard off the line but he should pull really hard on the big end. Good luck!
