Me vs. Friend Saturday Morning, 8:30 A.M.
Had just finished showering when the phone rang. Who else could it be, but my buddy David. Here's hoiw the conversation went...
Me: Hello?
David: Hey dude, its me David.
M: Hey man whats up?
D: I just got my baby back from paint.
M: Nice, how'd it go?
D: Came out nice, what do you say we have a little racin' fun?
M: I'm up for it meet me at my house, Later.
*click*
And so it was on.
About half an hour later David shows up in his newly painted ride. It actually looked pretty decent, even though green isnt really my color. We decided to head to this 2-lane road out in the country. I hopped into my ride, put the key into the ignition and a short second later the 5.4L roared to life. As i put it into reverse, David was already pulling away from the curb. I eased her out of my driveway and onto the street. David was already halfway down the street. He stayed at the stop sign until I caught up. And we were off. About 10 minutes later we arrived at the road we were going to race at.
David then proceeded to do a burnout to "warm up his tires" wasnt too sure why he was doing it, but hey burnouts are fun. After a few minutes of crazy antics we decided to race a little. We lined up, and David shouted out his window to go on the 3rd honk, I nodded my head.
1st honk....2nd....3rd! I pushed down the accelerator and had a some slippage but not much. I had roughly half a car on him at the start. As we hit 65mph i had a car on him. As we got nearer to 80 mph he was gaining on me! Oh no! I thought but 90 mph was our limit so all I had to do was keep the lead until 90 mph. As we hit 85 mph I had lost half a car. We hit 90 mph and shut it down, I had won! We slowed down and stopped, and I told David to go to my house.
A short while later I was pulling into my driveway. I came to a stop and put her in park. As I turned her off I thought to myself, another one goes down to the Expedition....

So what were you racing against?
I old room mate in college got into racing because of our other roomate and myself. Porting cylinder heads in the bedroom, pulling and tearing down engines in the driveway, and trips to the track rubbed off on him I guess. Anyway, he hotrodded and raced his 302 Mountianeer. It wasn't as fast as my Monte Carlo, or Adam's Mustang, but I was impressed.

Whats wrong with the guy racing his expidition, there are a lot of tahoe guys around , and 2500 hd guys like me who love to race the expidition's. I think there are a few tahoes running around in the mid 13's thats not to slow for a 5800 lb vehicle. I think racing these heavy trucks is a lot of fun, whats more exciting than seeing a 6500 lb hd run 12's well ok seing a f-body run 9's is probaly more exciting but to each his own.
