Wow a 107 mph trapping car pulling a car that should trap 108-110. Somethings up with that WS6.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but there is a TA show (STARS) this weekend I believe down there, I may go. I noticed there are a few from the FWB area I have posted this in the southern section...I will bring it TTT so reply's can be made there. If I don't know anyone or meet up with someone to hang with, I won't go...I hate being all by my self---booo hooo hoo-lol.

I dont like ranting on the internet, so dont take offense.

85.5mph 1/8m resulted as a 107mph trap at a quarter mile track.

87.1X 1/8m would equal out to ~110mph trap in the 1/4, this was done at a 1/8 mile track..

the ws6 trapped 87.XX at the same 1/8m track.

that cant be accurate taking things in to consideration such as they are DIFFERENT cars with totally dif powerbands and gearing. the L67 chokes itself on the top end. i would be intrested to see the results from a 60 punch....

take a look at the clubgp.com timeslip database. i am not basing my 1/8-1/4 traps off the Ls1 averages.
we have ran from a 55 punch. dead even..

oh, and my turbo came in today

Stock GT's do not have a blower. I have a GT in which I have added a Novi2000. I got to 12.2 last year but my fuel system could not keep up with the boost I was cramming down it's throat. I've since replaced the fuel pump, canister, went from 42# to 65# injectors, and did a custom PCM tune. I "should" break 11's this year.

Besides the fuel system, my TC was slipping badly enough to take out my tranny at the end of the year. I've done a complete rebuild and changed from 3.29 gears to 3.69's, then upgraded from a 3500 stall to a 3800 stall TC.

Prior to the upgrades, I ran 12.2 at 111 but I died at half track. My dyno was 408whp see: http://hulkspeed.com/vids/dyno91104.wmv

As with any car, they can all be made fast. Still, it must be nice to have RWD. I would love to have a WS6 to play with at the track because the GP tranny doesn't like big power.

guys, i have 100% total respect for the ls1/2/6 crowd here... ill have one sometime too

GTPs arnt all slow up top, the blower even maxed out will make some nasty power from a roll intercooled, stock gtps the blower is always circulating coolant through it at 160/180/195 deg temps, thats hot, intercoolers usually block this off so the blower stays near ambient temps and when you punch it you start with intake air temps 30+deg cooler than a gtp without an intercooler.

3 biggest mods for a gtp are intercooler/cam/headers .... i did all three together and droped a ton of time off my car and didnt get to run it enough to upgrade more parts.

remember, most 12 second GTPs are on slicks, we run them flat so when a burnout is done, they pressurize and are not so flat taking off... but once were at 100mph at the end of a "cool" track, those tires feel like the biggest boob job youve ever seen. My car never feels as fast once moving at any track as it would on the street with my 18" centerline rims.... on a highway its pretty nasty after 100mph in 3rd gear vs the track feels dead.

Ive trapped at my latest run 110.xx mph and 111.xx mph one night at atco, nj racetrack and ill hand neck and neck with a 115mph trapping modded 04 cobra 50-140mph and barely get pulled by a 11.95@115mph auto WS6 and a cammed Camaro SS with 398rwhp that does 12.0@117mph, puts about a car on me with a 6 speed from 55-115/120.

next time any RWD guys race, put big flat slicks on the front of your t/a, c5 or camaro and watch your trap go down 4mph or so... lol.. Its kind of deceiving. one of www.intense-racing.com owned SSEi KB blown bonnevilles raced a modded z06 on the street from a roll and litterally on street tires the z06 had no chance. it ran mid 11s @118ish mph before, remember, heavy FWD car on slicks..

Doesnt quite work this way for ricers with DRs or slicks, their cars arnt too heavy to begin with, they usually are 1000lbs less than the average GTP racer. I really want a bright red 98+ WS6 as my daily driver in the next years time.

1999 2dr Black Grand Prix GTP
12.27@111mph 1.86 60 foot, hoosier slicks, 93 pump gas
Intense Stage 1x cam,Intense stage1 chip, custom intercooler, roller rockers, SLP headers, 3" exhuast, high flow carsound cat, ported head exhuast outlets, ton of other little stuff, and 2.6" sc pulley.--

new mods to be done this month for may 05, Intense Stage 2 camshaft, more headwork, bowled intake runners, 9.5:1 Forged diamond pistons, mezerie Electric water pump, 8 rib belt/pullies/crank conversion, ported blower, ls1 throttle body with ls6 85mm maf, stage 2 chip, 2.8/3.1" sc pullies, tc-300 torque converter, forged input/output shafts Intense in trans, gen2 Intense LSD, single chain trans upgrade, 3.69 gears from 2.93 stock. Hopefully its gonna be a monster and beat pectors car

just a side note, on my 111mph trap run i ran a 7.8x something @91.xx mph in the 8th, usually a gtp hitting 90+ in the 8th hits 113-115mph but ALL of my 5 months of running lower 12s, i had belt slip issues, and since then went with different pullies to eliminate it, i literally would be upshifting at 9psi when i should have 15ish, the 8 rib put me upto almost 17/18psi but then just wasnt tuned and chippped pistons not being tuned and so forth, but was pulling much more than any times at the track.

Hey I know you guys!

Indeed a heavily modded GTP can be a force vs. a lightly modded LS1. That looks like a good set of races between you too. It's amazing the shock a lot of people have when a GTP starts pulling low 12s. There's something to be said for amazing a guy in a C5 in your grocery getter.

That being said, I have the utmost respect for LSx motors. Heck, I'm putting one in my other car!

'sides, we're all one big happy GM family!
