96 Formula Vs 99 Trans Am
I was riding around last night and saw a 96 or 97 formula. I turned around and chased him down and while I wsa doing this a riced out honda pulled out infront of me. So I have a chance to get two kills. At the light the formula takes off easy so I do the same and he nails it around 10-15 mph so I nailed it and weent sideways till about 30-35 and i was sligthly pulling. He gave me the head shake like yeah I got his *** so we went down the road and I got beside him with no cars ahead going about 65 and he nailed so I hit and I immediately pulled 2 cars on him and porlly had 2 to 3 cars by 90-95. Stock LS-1 top end in my favor. LOL. Does that sound pretty normal considering both were stock? Then when I went after the ricer he gets beside me and honk and never does anything and then turns off on the exit out of the middle or now where. What a dumbass.
When we came off the line I guess you could say (10-15mph) and I hit and spun sideways a little I stayed in it and I was barely pulling/staying with him. I thoguht he would have been pulling pretty hard because of all the lt1 low end grunt then I just waxed the hell out of him top end!
Wow! I didnt know that LT1s could beat LS1s until 80mph
! That sucks for us LS1 drivers, if we have a short race, we will lose. Do the LTs have alot more torque or something, b/c I know the LS has more HP? Also, anyone know if I raced a 1999 trans am (not WS6) with my 1999 formula, both A4, who would win?

yeah it all depends on traction but when that ls1 hooks watch out. same for your race its gonna be a drivers race. you guys have identical cars. is the ta ramair? not much of a difference but that's the only thing making the 2 cars different.

i know what you mean, i just didn't want to start an arguement about the lt1's having low end grunt to whoop up on the ls1's.

stock for stock the LS1 should win from a dig or roll(with decent drivers)The LT1 puts less tq to the wheels then an LS1, the difference is the LT1 reaches its peak tq at 2500 rpms to the LS1's 4500 rpms, so the LT1 "feels" faster, but it isn't.
Me with a Moroso CAI vs. a exhaust/tune LS1 0-50 I pulled him, 50-60 he pulled about 1.5 cars, from there I just forgot about it as he was walking badly. PS. I was A4 as was he and I had 2.73's, I have no idea what he had.

But even though a Ls1 makes it's PEAK @ 4000+rpm it still makes the SAME or more torque at 2400rpm than a LT1 does.
So IMO it's all
about LT1's having more low end.The only way it's accurate is the LT1 is all low end and harldy any mid or high.
The LS1 does a pretty darn good job from idle to red line.
After reading all this, I really want to race an LT1 and see what happens. I tried to race a chick in an Lt1 vette yesterday, but she didnt want to race me
. But, the next LT1 Fbody I see on the road, I'm gonna race it without second thought.
