Default 88 gt vs 00 z

This was about a year and a half ago. I was riding down park blvd with my girlfriend at the time in my Z. At the time I was running stock 2.73 gears hpp., and lid. I have been following the red gt for a little while through traffic until I finally catch a light with him. We get the green and take off. We were dead even until about 50 and I started to pull slightly on him. By 80 I had a car lenght on him and we both let off. At the next light we chatted. He said he had heads, cam, intake, headers, and 3.73 gears with 5 speed. I had a lot of fun on that run and he was a pretty cool guy.

Nice, I had a 93 Saleen and also did some mods like that guy(gears:4.10's,intake,f-303 cam, exhaust,MSD,underdrive pulleys, ram air kit,ADS chip, free mods) and i was totally pissed off by my friends 99SS-he spanked me good on the highway with an A4 that had t-stat-HPP,flowmaster cat back and lid. Now that pissed me off enough to go and buy a 2000 SS. i never stop thanking him now.But at the time it sucked. Nice kill. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

its fun to beat a modded car when you are for the most part stock. I just wish I had the money to do more mods. This car is nowhere near fast enough for me.

Sounds like a good race. Sucks that the guy with the 88 GT did all those mods and did not even have mass air. The first year Ford used mass air on the 5.0's was in 1989. It would have been good for a little more horsepower, and possibly a different outcome in the race.

The 1988 California 5.0s were mass air as well.

Even with a maf the final outcome at the top end would have been the same. The faster we went the more I started to pull. I am sure it would have made a difference down low though
