cammed LS1 vs. Single Supra
I meet some supra guys at speedworks in Lewisville yesterday and got 1 run against a 570rwhp built auto, towards the end of the race he was pushing 27 to 30 psi. We ran from 10 - 120ish:
On the launch we both spun but he spun worse so I jumped out to a couple car lead. By sixty he is still behind me and not pulling that hard. I am looking in my side mirror at 90 he starts pulling, man he is coming up quick. At 105 he is at my door and by 120 he is 2 cars ahead. If we would have gone higher it would have been ugly. Overall about what I expected.
I figured I would hook alot sooner than the single because he was on street tires too.
Real nice guy and when he gets some ET Streets or Drag Radials he would beat me by 5-10 cars in the same race. BTW: His Supra was beatiful black and shinny.
Before the BS flag comes up here are some of my mods:
3.42 gears with 3000 stall
Cam with 1.8 rockers
All bolt ons
Good for about 360 rwhp and 360 rwtq.
I have run the 1/8th with my current mods, these are averages on street tires:
60' = 1.93
1/8 = 8.1
1/8 mph = 88

I'd try to get him to run 1/4 mile if possible. Sounds like his car is built to run top end.

I am planning on a 150 shot. I hope that would put me within 5 cars of him.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

It is difficult to build them differently for drag or top end use. There aren't any aftermarket rearend ratios, and only one company makes drag suspension. Even when you mainly drag race a Supra, you get mad top end power.
Most single-turboed Supras will actually pull a better ET with a taller rearend ratio.

It's all easy, when all you have to do is bolt on a bigger hairdryer. They're fast and the engineering's good, but at the end of the day it's a Toyota to most people. I thought about buying one around 94', now I'm glad I didn't. I wouldn't have liked the tight clicks they run in. The parts are ridiculously expensive and overpriced (like ours aren't either), and there's not too many places that make parts for them. So,the ones that do, price gouge. Don't get me wrong, I like the car, and only time will tell if they ever achieve classic status, not just with what they are, but their performance.

Figure that only 1500 or so of the 7000 are modified, and you will see why there aren't many vendors actually needed anyway.
I can think of...
...7 piston brands.
...6 connecting rod brands.
...5 cam/valvetrain brands.
...8 turbosystem brands.
...7 electronics brands.
...9 exhaust system brands.
...7 clutch brands.
...4 brake system brands.
Plenty out there, just need to look around. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Whats wrong with a Toyota? They are some of the best built cars made.
