Default I need more power, now!

My brother finally got his car on the road today, it's a '91 Toyota MR2. He bought a jap spec motor strait from japan, it was used but in good shape. Last fall he told me he would be able to beat me with it and I told him, the day he beat me, I would give him my car. Wll I helped him get it on the road a week ago, but today we finally had a chance to go. That mother f**ker is fast! I beat him but I'm very impressed. From a 20 roll I let him hit it first and he got out almost a full car before I started to pull and by 110 I only had 2 cars on him. The problem is for his birthday I bought him about $850 worth of mods that we have not put on his car yet. I need to get the headers on before he gets his stuff on or I may be in trouble! What else can I do so I don't get beat by his little yellow piece of rice?

Time for some gears. A nice set or 3.73s should do wonders!!

I thought about those, but what kind of gain should I see over the stock 3.42's?

If you haven't done tuning (like Predator or
Edit) there's still some performance left on
the table, especially with the 'stat and cold
air you should be able to run up the timing
a fair bit.

Since you intend to put headers, you should
plan on getting Edit in my opinion (and a
scan software like ATAP) and get used to it
so that after the install you can make up for
the headers' mixture effects. Meanwhile, you
can squeeze out another ten horses or so I bet,
if not more.

This is a little pile o' cash but probably the
most sensible investment going forward, make the
most of the other stuff you've got on there.

That $850 would look alot better on my car about now, but I thought he would probably need that stuff just to get that thing to move, I guess I was wrong! Thats alright, there's not many fast cars around here so it's nice having someone else motivate me to make my car faster! But thanks for reminding me what a dumb@$$ I'am anyway
